Nor Mohamed Yakcop's political secretary, Hasbie Satar, has officially resigned last night and Prime Minister Najib Razak has been officially informed by Nor Mohamed over the matter and reported that he (the PM) was very pleased with the fact that an officer has resigned for being involved in practices that are beyond the scope of the job description. Hasbie was given the letter to state his resignation and he signed it without hesitation! I don't believe there is any moral to this story except to say that just do your job and stop being involve in corrupt practices that can jeopardise the well being of the country!
And he will do it upon completion of his interrogation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Hasbie Satar, a political secretary to Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, the Minister in the Prime Minister Department in charge of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) will tender his resignation after an investigation by the MACC revealed that he (Hasbie) acquired more wealth than he should have in view of his position.
It was also reliably learnt that Prime Minister Dato's Sri Najib Tun Razak summoned Nor Mohamed and told him the government will not tolerate corruption within this administration and those caught must own up to their actions.
The move by Najib will send a clear signal to government officers, especially those serving cabinet ministers, to be focused on their job description and by being focus will bode well for the future of the country.
Last week one of Najib special officers had to resign for conduct unbecoming of an officer serving the prime minister. Datuk Nasir Safar resigned after making a serious racially toned statement at a function where many non-Malay participants walked out of the function in disgust.
