Arabisation of the Malays must be checked! Hurrah for a brave voice!

Marina Mahathir. Took me a while to realise but she pesonify the progressive Malay women of Malaysia and not many of them are around anymore

Arabisation of Islam in Malaysia is critical and it must be checked.
The Malays are the most easily influence group in the country and Umno leaders are now using Arabisation of ISlam for more firm control over them.  Malay women are given a "gentle suasion" (read: do it or suffer) to be more subservient to their Malay men.
I feel  that over the last almost 60 years the Malay culture is slowly deacaying into a natural death where all aspect of the beautiful Malay culture where baju Melayu, baju kurung and kebaya are not seen anymore and women are encourage by the Muslim-Malay male dominated political system of the country to practice "tribal Islam" rather than the progressive one.
For this dudes, I am with Marina Mahathir, I may have not agreed with some of her stance in the past but on this score I am apt to agree with her.  Marina on this subject I am with you keep it up you have my complete support.
Below is an artilce which appeared in Malay Mail online:

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 — Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir has criticised the “Arabisation” of Islam in Malaysia amid the institutionalisation and growing conservatism of the faith here.
The social activist pointed out that that it is very difficult to find traditional “baju Melayu” for women during Hari Raya as Arab attire like kaftans, which are long tunics, became more popular instead over the years.
“This is just Arabisation. Our culture — it’s colonialism, Arab colonialism,” Marina told Malay Mail Online in a recent interview here.
“Kaftans are easy to wear. But what happened to our tradition, culture, everything? It’s lost,” she lamented, pointing out that Malay women below 50 generally do not know how to tie the ‘baju kurung’ skirt so that it falls into pleats and makes it easier to walk in.
The eldest child of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Islam’s biggest problem in Malaysia is the fear of knowledge of the religion itself.  Read more here....

The prime minister, in his blogsite, replies to all unfounded allegations made about him.

  1. Najib on Altantuya's issue, and he said:-
  2. This case has been investigated, tried and concluded in the Federal Court. It is a nine year-old case without end as it continues to be “recycled” by the Opposition.
  3. As it was a lengthy court case, the appellants had ample time to give their full account and tell the courts everything. So why are we listening to individuals whose testimony have already been given and who have been found guilty of the crime?
  4. What is important is that the judgment brings justice to everyone, most importantly to the family of the victim, to the accused and even to me.
  5. I have stated many times that I have nothing to do with this issue, and even sworn an oath on the Quran in a Mosque.
  6. The people must take into account that in politics, many issues keep being played up, and this is one of them. It became hot at a time when I was PM in waiting and the Opposition needed a way to prevent me from advancing. Because the two bodyguards had worked for me, and Razak Baginda was a friend and associate, they tried to connect the dots to me. Razak Baginda has openly admitted to the relationship with Altantuya but in no way did I have any knowledge of it. Pakatan and their media have irresponsibly tried to play the psy-war game by trying to implicate me and influence perception. They even went as far as to superimpose a photo of me, dining with the victim in a restaurant. In this era of social media, these things go viral uncontrollably, including the superimposed photo

On behalf of those who feel the same way........!

First and foremost let me humbly apologise for "re-printing" an article from Din Marican's blogsite on the subject of former prime minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad incessant attacks on the country's serving prime minister, Najib Razak.
I have always respected Din Marican's civilise write ups on many subjects which I considered as more intellectual rather than infantile in style.
In this particular open letter to Mahathir he is not praising Najib, but rather criticising the former prime minister's incessant attacks on the country's working, working very hard, prime minister.
Din is saying to Mahathir something akin to an adage: those who live in glass house shouldn't throw stones, and it basically means: You should not criticise other people for having the same faults that you yourself have.
This famous blogger dubbed a DJ Blogger, wrote something that many of us want to say or write but dare not for whatever reasons.
So here goes nothing:-

OPEN LETTER to Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad

By Din Merican
Rosmah-Mansor-Perdana-MenteriBoleh ka?
As someone who admires you over many years, it pains me to read about your political tussle with the incumbent Prime Minister, Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak, concerning his administration. It is also sad to note that our Prime Minister has not responded satisfactorily to issues you raised with regard to 1MDB financial affairs, the brutal murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu, the Mongolian model, and the management of the Malaysian economy.
Most of us agree that the Najib administration is incompetent, inept and corrupt. But there are some differences of opinion about whether he should resign or stay in office. Apparently, UMNO, of which Dato’ Seri Najib is President, is solidly behind him. Key leaders of the party including his predecessor, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the Youth Wing, and your critics in UMNO have pledged their support.
Najib is confident he can hold his own against your incessant attacks and those of pro-Mahathir bloggers like Dato Kadir Jasin  and  Syed Outside the Box, among others, that he can ignore you and allow his supporters to launch  a series of counter-attacks against you and your associates. You have been checkmated by a much younger leaders........Read further here!
