Water, water everywhere in Negri Sembilan but yet.......!?

We in Seri Menanti were made to believe we have water shortages, but yet the MB Mohamad Hassan announced the state is supplying millions of litres of treated water to a neighbouring state, so what kind of crap is this!

I am from Seri Menanti, Negri Sembilan, and I have a small property there that I like very much that we go back almost every weekend.
We also go back every Hari Raya, every Chinese New Year in fact every national holiday that we have we will go back.
The problem is with my kampong, we always have water rationing. The water will come either in the early morning for only some hours, or when are are asleep. Just imagine the people coming back during festive seasons having to endure to washing with wet towel to wash their faces and armpit from the bucket, and so on.
I am lucky that I have a tubular well that I spent money to have one built, trust me the rest of my kampung people will be cursing under their breath at the government for the water woes!
Then to my consternation I read in the paper my state of Negri Sembilan is going to supply treated water to Selangor, and this means we have a lot of water right? Damn right we have!
But how come the kampung people is being treated like a child clients, is it because they are easily bullied? Hey, you idiots running the state, they are not that stupid because they are already thinking of getting rid of the present government!
Between 38 and 56 million litres of water is being supplied to Selangor, I would think the state government had better start thinking of constantly supplying water to the many villages in that state, especially in my area, or do not expect the rakyat to be friendly to you!
Remember Rakyat di Dahulukan? Or is it just a slogan?!

Sin Chew, a page 12 lead, today says a survey by UM Centre of Democracy and Elections has found that 18 percent of the respondents believed Pakatan (Rakyat) would come to power, while 43 percent (2,599 people) said BN could win, and 39 percent couldn't confirm the winner. Read more here!

Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim said he is ready to clean the country that he claims to be rotting from corruption and mismanagement, from top to bottom!
Well, my take is, first he has to cleanse himself of all the allegations of sodomy charges and that he did not do it with Saiful, and that he must take an oath on the Holy Koran in a public mosque anywhere in the country and say that he did not do all of the above.
And also he has to take an oath on the Holy Koran to say that he dis not commit sexual intercourse with a prostitute from China.
Guess what if he does all that I, and the entire county, will forgive him and will support him in any of his expected political endeavour, including his desire to become the prime minister of the country.
Until then, you moron, stop lying to the whole world and to Malaysians that you are a very moralistic and pious and capable person to rule the country!
However, do all of the above and I will support you!!!

What do we expect from a nutter!

In an interview with the BBC on the 12th Jan, 2012, Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim was asked whether he supports pro-gay groups calling for, among other things, the getting rid of what was considered as an antiquated sodomy law of the country.
He said, in his heavy Arab-accented accent, that he is i n favour of the call by this pro-gay group to abolish such law and reiterated that such a law could not be used against innocent people being accused committing sodomy.
First of all this man is a nutter, he implies the system uses the "antiquated sodomy law" to persecute him, but the fact of the matter is this so called "antiquated law" was used to prosecute him because he was accused of committing such act.
No law created deems antiquated, other wise there will be chaos. A certain law may look unnecessary but I am sure there is a reason for it to be created.
Such a stupid law, for example, is that it is illegal, in one state in the US, to jump from a moving plane without a parachute, is it really such a stupid law?! Well it was described that a person jumping from a moving plane as illegal because he/she might fall over a property on another human being so the law was made to protect those on the ground. (The last time I hear the law is still in te book of this state, as stupid as it may looks, it is there for a reason.)
In the case of Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim I am not a bit surprised if he is a bit off-kilter lately!

Instead of highlighting on the fate of Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim, no body cares about justice for Saiful?

I have no doubt in my mind that Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim will be found guilty, after following the court case and the evidence given, and he will be jailed for the crime he was accsued of committing.
For all the hardship and the anguish that he has caused to all of us and the country, I believe we, as a nation, must move forward to compete with the rest of the free world.
This one man has the tenacity to trick, lie and cajole the rest of the world, let alone Malaysia, into believing that he was a victim of a political conspiracy. Well unfortunately while he may have convinced many, but many more that are not as gullible.
Condolences to his family and friends for standing by him as a father, husband and a politician, but the thing to remember is this country has way bigger things to think about than of his fate, and the path he chose to take.
But take it from me, this man is nothing but a scam artist, a snake oil seller, a rain maker, and he is as guilty as sin and he has to be stopped there is no two way about it.

Lee Kuan Yew, and his PAP, was successful in taking over Singapore with the help of few Malays that were working against Umno then, The financial backing for the putsch by the PAP, now DAP in Malaysia, and SAPP in Sabah to take over the region is massive.
The influential Overseas Chinese grouping throughout the world headed by giants from Malaysia, Taiwan, US, Canada, Australia and Singapore is ever ready to finance any political take over of any country in the region. This will include buying few "bought-able" weak and frustrated Malays, for example, to further their cause.
While two or three weak and frustrated Malays may not make a change or a dent, but it is sad to see how they have betrayed their rights only for a few millions ringgit!
However, majority of the indigenous population of both Peninsular and East Malaysia are not all that oblivious to this impending fact and threat,
This column is not about racism but rather about the reality of Real Politics! This is about politics of domination, the weak versus strong, and stupid versus brilliant and to cut to the chase, in the case of Peninsular Malaysia, it is about the Malay dominated system against organised Chinese factions ever ready to take over the country.
While the fragmented Malays were and still are squabbling amongst themselves, Penang has been taken over by the progressive Chinese factor represented by the DAP, and Perak was almost lost to the DAP, Selangor has been overtaken by DAP dominated Chinese, and Kedah to the fundamentalist Islamic party PAS, etc.
Sad to say though, in spite of the agents of the Overseas Chinese attempts to dominate the region's rich natural resources the indigenous Malays still allow themselves to be duped.

My Note: My take is if Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim is bent on creating chaos and compromising our country's securityjust deal with him without compunction, just take serious actions as the Egyptian authority has taken to curb agent provocateur!......And BTW read the last part of the article which I am also reproducing below....!

Those who are familiar with his style of politics would know he is a master of instigating the public into street protests, frenzy and riots.

This is a man who does not care about anything except himself. Here is a man who spent his political career in Umno, enriching himself and enjoying the powers of a DPM but now project himself as a man of the people.

There are enough video evidence to show how he has mocked and belittled PAS and DAP but now he sleeps with them, convincing them that they will be in Putrajaya but of course, he will be the PM.

This is the former education minister who ordered the crosses to be removed from all Christian mission schools but today, there are plenty of churches who think he is the Messiah who will save them.

He was also the minister who wanted to put non-Chinese speaking headmasters in Chinese schools but the DAP has closed their eyes and ears, preferring to rewrite history, be selective in their memories and see him as their hope.

This the man who talks about morality by claiming all those sex tapes were doctored and that he isn’t the man in these videos.

There are of course enough idiots who believed this evil man.

Anwar talks about accountability and his hatred of corruption but we know that how many cronies he built up and the fortune he has amassed.

Maybe Azmin Ali want to take us on a tour of his garage and see how many Porsches he has.

In the run up to the January 9 court decision, he has been touring the country in his typical pre-emptive strikes to tell his listeners that he has been fixed up.

No, he is not a sodomist, No, he is not an adulterer. Sure, he is an imam muda, just like many brain-washed Pakatan Rakyat idiots would believe.

He has sent SMS, e-mails and flyers to the public instigating them to an uprising on Jan 9.

One does not need to be a psychologist to know what are the hidden messages behind all the posters and leaflets.

He is asking the public to revolt. He does not care about the consequences or public safety.

This portal urges the authorities not to fall into his trap. He wants the police to arrest the protestors and his accomplices – the western media and Malaysiakini – are only too eager to show the world that Malaysia is dictatorial.

Let his men go wild. The police should just stand and watch. Let’s see how far they can go.

Let’s see whether those who support protests and demonstrations would still back him if things goes off tangent.

I started this new posting with a quote above, made by one of the many anonymous people commenting in my blog. In this trying times, comments in cyberspace are most likely made by the "enemies of the state" so to speak.
There are no racist countries in the world, but the majority of the countries in the world do practice ethnocentrism in favour of the majority when running or controlling a country.
Last year I was in Uruguay. I found out the Spanish came to conquer the land and to do that effectively and successfully they had to decimate the entire population of the aboriginal or native people of the land.
Today in this country, you cannot find a single native person not in the city, nor, for that matter, in the entire country. Asked any government official there about this, and they will feel the shame and their interaction with you on the subject will be filled with guilt. But it is too late!
Even in a great country like the USA, if we are open minded and smart enough to accept it, many of the government policies are based on the feelings of the majority of the White Anglo Saxon Protestants (WASP) so their values still dominate that great country.
Well, yes, USA may have a black president now, but being a black president in the turbulent sea of WASPy values, even Obama has admitted being a black president in a white dominated country is a tremendous chore.
Our opposition here, DAP mainly, uses Singapore as a good example of how minority Malays are being treated well. Well, we also feed our captive pets when we feel like it, every two days or three?
Australia mistreats its aboriginal people, but our opposition parties hardly ever condemn this country which once boasted its openly White Policy only on immigration. Well guess what, I was told the open White Policy is now not "practised" anymore.
Do you see minority non-Malays being persecuted in this majority Malay-Muslim society and government? Well if you do, have your head checked, or have an open mind and check the demographic make-up of Kuala Lumpur and all the major towns in Malaysia, and guess what they are all owned and inhabited by the mainly "persecuted and supressed" Chinese population.
So I am not sure how some one can ever surmise that Malaysian majority Malays are suppressing minority Chinese of Indians and others.
So in the end Malaysia, like any other one-race dominated system, can only have policies that are deemed to be seen made only for the majority-centric society, when others are also being looked after.
Unlike when Kuomintang, under Chiang Kai Shek, fled to nearby island of Formosa (now Taiwan) after being kicked out by Communist Mao Tse Tong, Chiang Kai Shek ordered the decimation of the original inhabitants.
The horror of ethnic cleansing inflicted by the Kuomintang on the original inhabitants of this island has long been suppressed. Today these original people of Taiwan, who have a similar linguistic grouping to the Malay group, read here, now live in the mountains and only perform for tourism.
Meanwhile, in this country while we welcomed other races to share our land, they are now bold enough to ask for the rights to also become paramount rulers and the prime minister.
They are also bold enough to want to change the constitution of the country to suit them, the minority! Guess what, I call these people a bunch of Kiasu Ingrate!

Yes, government of the day! Deal with the African problem now...or else!

One day they will do this!

We are not a xenophobic bunch, we allow all kinds to come in this beautiful country to make a living, but lately Africans, bad Africans and many of them, have been getting brazenly bold to locals like me.
The other day in a packed lift two very tall Africans were talking very loudly in a small space were told, by me, that they have to lower their voice down, and guess what...one of them say "what is your problem" very loudly.
And I stood up and said the problem is with you people coming here not respecting the norms and mores of our country. They tried to intimidate me, and like a gorilla I knew they were doing just that to intimidate.
Out of the unexpected, one of them apologised, but I did not let them get off scot free and I insisted what they do here and like a fucking big animals they just walked off.
This happened at Bangsar Village One.
The point is how many of us are daring enough to stand up for what we are! We see big black menacing African we shy away from them, and like any fucking animals they can sense our fear of them, as in a nature of the beast they take that advantage.

Meanwhile the government entrusted to look after our interest and safety appears not to be doing anything. We have to have a strong resolve to curb this African menace,and yes unlike the Koreans, Bangladeshis and others, for they are really pissing me off so bad.
So the government of the day please do something to round these people up and deport them before the rakyat takes matter in their own hand and something really bad will happen to them where ever they are if no action is taken.

A good man but beleive in everything Malay and Islam!

In 1947 Malays of all political affiliation and ideology got together at Gunung Semanggul, in Perak, to discuss Malay unity and how to ensure Malay rights in the country.
The mostly Malay-Muslim religious leaders were against the encroachment 0f non-Malays in the country's economy and this viewed as threat to Malay rights. Read here...
This moderate Malays under Umno, headed by Dato Onn Jaafar found out his party's aims and goals were contrary to Islamic-based Malay religious leaders, so Umno struck on its own.
British administration of Malaya was also wary of fundamentalist Malay religious movement and did a silent "purge" on these Malay religious fanatics.
In 1948 many of these fanatics joined Umno and along the way they could not get along with the more moderate Malays headed by the party founding father Onn Jaafar, so it broke away and formed an Islamic-based party, Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PMIP) and later it was known as PAS.
So the gist here is PAS has always advocated a pure Malay-Muslim country, and has always believe the immigrant Chinese and Indians were a cursed to the country. Umno on the other hand had always believe in One Malaya, as similar to One Malaysia today.
Well, the rest you know is ,a nasty British History, that is another story. Had Onn Jaafar succeeded in absorbing non-Malays into Umno the country would be different today, then again that isalso another history.
The point to remember here is PAS, and now PKR, has always been a racist, Islamic-ethnocentric party that viewed Non-Muslims as heretic and that view is still being held high by the party until today.......but not and never allowed to be expressed in public!!
Like DAP, which is a chauvinist Chinese based Chinese party, it is having an unnatural pact with PAS and PKR, another racist Malay-based party led by a racist leader...you better believe this...that will sell their souls to the Devil just to be in power.
Let me draw you very simple scenario: If PAS is in power the Chinese had better think of finding another country to live in, if PKR is in power it will also propagate its Muslim-Malay values and concept.
The choice is for Malaysians to use their common sense!!

Shahrizat, do the right thing, just resign!

Then it occurred to me why we have to succumb to opposition dirty tactics in smearing any member of the ruling party, when the sad part is some of us fall for it but the opposition under Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim is even more full of real scandals and wrong doing.
We must also bear in mind that when Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim was in the government he made off with billions of ringgit and tried to make a deal with the World Bank to enslave Malaysia. Also had Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim succeeded in running the country our natural resources would also be in the hand and control of big Multi-National Corporations.
Back to Shahrizat, if she decided to step down she must put in place the Wanita movement properly and effectively so not to scuttle her movement!

In 1985, the Canada Fisheries Minister John Fraser, under the conservative prime minister, Brian Mulroney, was forced to resign over a Tuna-gate controversy.

Fraser was caught closing one eye when allowing a canned tuna factory to process contaminated canned tuna meant for export. Even though he knew about the contaminated canned tuna yet he allowed the factory to sell them, thus damaging the credibility of the government of the day.

According to Wikipedia there were many scandals with the -gate suffix beginning the well known Watergate, see here! So over a public outcry this particular Canadian minister had to go over this Tunagate fiasco.

Back here, Shahrizat Abdul Jalil must go, and a strong resolve from the government and party's leadership is needed to do this. So Najib, just take the bull by the horns and rattle them, and live like a warrior.

Two prominent Umno members of parliament, one a minister, and a former prime minister have expressed their thought over the NFCgate, and that Shahrizat must go and also in view of her name that has been grossly tainted over the controversy surrounding her husband company NFC.

The moral of the story is the government must been seen to be credible and any member of the government that cast doubt over this credibility therefore, he or she, must go at all cost!

Federal Territory Umno deputy chairman Datuk Raja Nong Chik Zainal Abidin, who is also Federal Territory Minister, said this after launching the Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley Tender Alert System (G-TAS) at his ministry today.

Raja Nong Chik said that Umno leadership must seriously look into the controversy that has put the party in bad light.

“The party leadership must decide on her position and it is up to them to decide,” he said.

“In fact, an investigation is ongoing on the matter and we should also wait for it (to be concluded),” he said.

“But the Opposition has raised a lot of issues on this,” he said, adding that Shahrizat’s position as Umno Wanita chief can only be decided by the top brass.

Raja Nong Chik is the latest Umno leader to comment on the issue.

Member of Parliament for Kulim-Bandar Baru, Datuk Zulkifli Noordin has admitted lying to the world to save his once much idolised leader Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim from a sodomy case.

He recently went public admitting he lied to a top Muslim Brotherhood and a renowned Islamic cleric, Yusuf Qardawi that Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim was maligned by the government in a still an ongoing sodomy case involving Anwar's aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

“We (only) described that there was slander in this sodomy case. When he understood the way we put it, Syeikh Yusuf Qardawi immediately issued the ‘Qazaf’ fatwa,”

Zulkifli, who was one of Anwar’s defence lawyers in the sodomy I trial (1998), also admitted what he did was wrong and sinful because he went to the extent of lying to the "respected cleric" just to save Anwar’s reputation and image.

“Looking back, we find we have committed much sin relating to this matter…to the extent that we even had the audacity to deceive a cleric of such stature in believing that the issue faced by Anwar was one of slander – an issue that needed to be addressed through Qazaf.

In retrospect, it is refreshing to know a person like Zulkifli admitting he was made used of by his "leader" and that he went out an extra mile to defend his him but in the end he realised he was being made use of.

Tunku 'Abidin Muhriz, a very bright young man, but must choose his words carefully from now on!

Sometimes we know of a bad situation but are afraid to spell it out, out of fear of being chastised or condemned for being brave enough to tread where no one dares.

At the recent Umno assembly the presidential speech was inspiring, Umno president Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak did not mince his words when explaining the future of Umno and the position of the Malays in the country, and what Umno members are expected to do.

He said, to paraphrase him, Umno members must be truthful when carrying out their missions to uplift the position of the Malays within the country sincerely, and to be a genuine caring leaders but not to be a drag to the party in view of the anticipated General Elections.

One assembly after another an ordinary Malay like me would hear the same Umno rhetoric and semantics during the speeches made at the grand hall at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), and many of us have to put up with a lot of that same old tirades....same old, same old!

After the assemblies and after a general election many, trust me very many, in the country will be left in a lurch after fiery promises were made to help that did not materialise.

Some, not all, Umno politicians will forever be engaged in active business ventures and raking in millions, and just check around for many of these Umno politicians who are indeed a bunch of leeches living beyond their means, with fancy houses and fancy cars and going on very expensive holidays.

Some even have houses that can make many palaces in the country look like kindergarten. Just go to Damansara Heights and you can see how our Umno politicians live.

So it is to no surprise that some of us mere mortals, including a prince, have come to the conclusion that some of these Umno politicians are a bunch of leeches, sucking the blood of the country's economy without compunction.

I personally know of an Umno division head who is raking one contract after another from a ministry, and he does it without playing by the rules. So if some of us decide to call them a bunch of blood sucking leeches....actually I have to agree with such assertions!

Recently, a columnist with the Star newspaper, Tunku 'Abidin Muhriz, who is also member of the Negri Sembilan royalty dare to say it as it is. Read the first column he wrote alluding to some Umno members as being blood sucking leeches, here!

Describing his jaunt in a jungle with the Volunteer Force, he alluded to a leech that fell on his neck trying to suck his blood, to be some of the Umno delegates that are akin to these bloodsucking creature.

Tunku 'Abidin is just expressing some of us Malays have known all along. He did not say anything new and what we have already known. Unfortunately for him his choice of words have offended some of the "demi-Gods" within Umno.

But seriously, I believe Najib is trying to do everything within in his limited power to curb bad practices within Umno, and also from the ruling coalition. I believe if this country has to move forward with Malays as the backbone of the country, we do need to get rid of the leeches that have stuck on to the sacred body of Umno, sucking the blood...almost dry.

If we alluded further, leeches can be easily gotten rid of just by applying many remedies and one of the most effective remedy is salt.

To the prime minister, remember this little piece of wisdom that says "certain measures are beyond good manners" so for you sir you have to use all means to get rid of these nagging and wriggly problems for Umno and Malays to move forward!

BTW since the column by Tunku 'Abidin, he has since apologised over his remarks made, read here! I hope he has learned a lesson when alluding to any sensitive subjects such as Umno.
I know like any other Malaysians, he meant well when he wrote his column . And I know this young man is full of the zest for life, but he needs to be careful of his choice of words. Especially so when his father is the ruler of the state.

From now on we do not want his comments on his column be be exploited by the opposition and for this Tunku 'Abidin must be aware all the time.

Kalimullah is suing Matthias for defamation and as an ordinary citizen of this country I failed to see the relevancy as to why Kalimullah had to mention the name of the current prime minister's son name and also the former prime minister's son name into his case.

Here is the thing, why did the newspaper only singled out the daughter of our prime minister shopping, and it turned out it was not even true, when there were many many more heads of governments attending the meeting in Perth. So what's the real reason, eh!

Back to Kalimullah Hassan, as far as I am concerned, he could have easily cited other cases to strengthen his argument, instead of dragging name of the current prime minister in a round about way and also the name of the former prime minister. So what's the real reason, eh!

In 1991 I had the opportunity to travel to Battambang and Phnom Penh right after the civil war and atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge...it was horrible, to put it very mildly!
When the Paris Agreement to end the killing in Cambodia was achieved, I remember going to the office of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNCTAC) Special Representative to oversee the implementation of the agreement, he was UN Secretary-General's special representative,Yasushi Akashi.
He told reporters then that "Cambodia and its people will bounce back to normalcy......one day"
That was 20 years ago today!! And guess what Akashi was right in his prediction and today Phnom Penh is tagged as the Charming City, and on the verge of taking off economically and it is indeed a charming and a happy place to be.
Since 1991, I had the opportunity to visit Cambodia -- to Siem Reap, Battambang and of course its capital Phnom Penh. In 1991 I visited our boys in blue who served as the United Nations Peace keepers, with valour!
And friends I have plenty over there and they are truly a real friend. Last week I was in Phnom Penh and was specially invited to a friend's wife birthday party at a club called St Tropez, and contrary to what it was 20 years ago, the club could have easily be in a posh and trendy New York city areas.
The patrons were polite and civilised and no one smoke in there I was happy doing the salsa without having to stave off cigarette smoke , or cigar smoke for that matter!
Cambodia is nowhere near perfect and there are still some poor people living in it however compared to what it was the government there is doing everything in its power to reduce abject poverty.
If you are anywhere near a hotel called Nagaworld you will see a theme park complete with a giant ferries wheel and a giant swing in a shape of a pirate ship and from my hotel I can hear a scream of children but this time it was a scream of happiness....unlike the scream of the past!

Now an Australian newspaper, The West Australian, has admitted an erroneous reporting on Prime Minister Dato Najib Tun Razak's daughter spending during CHOGM it must now make a public apology to him (the prime minister) and to his family and to Malaysia, for the sake of a continued strong and positive bilateral relations between the two countries.
The admission, short of a real apology, has now gone viral throughout the internet, however the The West Australian must now apologise to Najib and his family for a distress it has caused over an unchecked story on the family of the prime minister.
Having said that it is now incumbent upon the opposition portal, Keadilan Daily, to also tender an apology to Najib and his family, and failing that , some one must sue this opposition portal.

On page ten of The West Australian, dated October 31st, 2011, a strange but small article describing Perth city retailers reaping wards from the recent CHOGM meeting which says:" .......while Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak's daughter believed to have spent AUD$60,000 in David Jones....." was totally wrong, since none of his daughters were In Perth at the said time and day.
We are not sure why this particular newspaper picked and mentioned only the name of Malaysian prime minister at CHOGM but sources told me it has to do with at the behest of Bersih's dirty tricks committee, funded by the Malaysian opposition, to discredit Malaysia and it's leaders oversea.

Politics should not be dragged into the gutter, we have seen in past years how Malaysians, especially from the opposition parties.
It was magnanimous for Prime Minister Najib Razak who said recently that family members should not be dragged into the dirty gutter politics. He was commenting on allegation made on the son of Penang chief minister who was accused of outraging the modesty of a school mate.
Naib is in the right position to say this as he was at the brunt of gutter politics when even his wife was accused by the opposition of supervising a murder, can you imagine that?! And at the said time and place his wife was officiating and attending a function at Tabung Haji, but the opposition does not want to know that right?! (Just a footnote Lim Guan Eng never came out in public to defend the prime minister, but let's us not walk there okay!)
Now then, if we do not have already enough of gutter politics it means one thing, we are addicted to it. If we called ourselves civilised we have to stop all the mudslinging, accusations of sexual bravado and then we can actually do this together, to be civilised, to develop Malaysia to a greater heights.
Let's us focus on the future of the country and try think of how difficult others the world around trying to make ends meet and survive on a day to day basis.

A Malaysian Musical Journey which is really not! Sorry!

Not so perfect a harmony as depicted by the chauvinist Chinese!

I met an old friend at the pres club he works for a big corporation and asked me if I wanted to go see a musical titled "A Malaysian Musical Journey" (AMMJ) at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC). I said sure.So he gave me five complimentary tickets!
He said it was going to be good when the Solianos will start the night with my favourite Malay songs! I believed him!
Well, it turned out AMMJ was not what it claims to be. AMMJ should have been dubbed A Malaysian-Chinese Musical Journey, just one of those pathetic sad old story of how Chinese in this country struggled. No one else struggled just the Chinese.
But that is fine with me, they did help built the country, but please do not portray it at the expense of Malays, who were portrayed as a bunch of a marauding bullies attacking a Chinese man and his little daughter out to make a living.
When that scene of Malay-looking bullies was shown I bet you that crippled Chinese narrator was laughing so hard he would exclaimed "Niamah Melayu served you right!"
I was soooo looking forward to enjoying the show which I did, until that crippled Chinese narrator was jibing and making allusive and deprecatory remark on our prime minister by hinting the PM should, like Richard Nixon, resign because of being involved in an "explosive" in an unnecessary innuendo making reference to an alleged involvement of PM and the dead Mongolian woman.
Then this crippled Ciuniamah Chinese made an unnecessary political remark about Mahathir Mohamad and Maggi Mee, very degrading indeed!
In the final analysis the musical was indeed very Chinese in essence, laced with a sprinkle of P.Ramlee and few "lamed" Malay songs I did not stay to watch the second half of the musical I was disgusted.
Why can't a musical be a true depiction of the essence of the journey it depicts, why must a frustrated crippled Chinaman destroyed my evening with an unnecessary political statement and innuendos?
Postscript:
To people like crippled Patrick Teoh the narrator of the musical, without a good government do not for once think that you can stage a musical anywhere in this country.
In the morning when you switch on the light of you fancy apartment or a house you live in or turning on a tap to take a shower there is a government there, without a good stable government you will smell like a pig turd because in countries like Iraq, Egypt and Libya everyone smell, not as bad as you though, because they have no water and electricity.

It took only a small band of European militiamen, or generally known as the Conquistadors from Spain and Portugal, with a blunderbuss, to control and to manage and decimate an entire Aztec and the Inca empires.
Basically the conquistadors were a regular organized military in that they had to supply their own materials, weapons and horses, and supported by their respective governments set out to conquer land and natural resources for their masters, such as Spain and Portugal.
(Just like DAP getting their supplies and ammunition from their mother country Singapore and taking orders from the PAP)
Today I see a modern day conquistador in a form of DAP running wild on rampage capturing land that belongs to the Malays, for their master in Singapore. In Penang, this modern day conquistadors, under their master-general Hernado Lim Guan Eng, are taking away Malay land, land designated for religious purposes, land that was previously being leased for legitimate NGOs.
Pretty soon Muslim cemeteries will be acquired for any Chinese development scheme! Like what has happened in Singapore when equally vicious "conquistador" under LKY took over the land by force!

In the beginning the "first" Chinese had no problem assimilating, just like the peranakan, like the good pedigree of Tan Siew Sin (one of my icons) then came the descendant of Namewee, Lim Kit Siang, and Teresa Kok! The rest is a fuc*ing history and we are now in this perpetual state of a very bad racial nightmare, that we cannot wake up from, unless we have a good exorcist to help us!

After 9/11 I have been a tad paranoid about my obviously Muslim name when ever I am traveling to North America. Once after the attack on the twin towers were were heading for Canada. We, my wife and I, weren't being scrutinised for our Muslim names while entering the country.
However, when we were about to board Air Canada from Toronto to Winnipeg (a domestic flight) our passports were taken away and taken to the back room for over an hour.
When the guy came back he just mumbled that sounded like "I am sorry" under his fake cough.
When asked, he said, "Don't worry about it." The thing is, we were worried because we believed it was our names that caused the delay.
It was and I believe it still is, that we are still living under the generation of "you are either with us or against us" syndrome! We all know that not all Muslims are terrorists and not all terrorists are in fact Muslim, but in this time of uncertainty and perceived restriction of fossil fuel some kind of a bogeyman syndrome (again the word) had to be created! TERRORISM!.
Now it is an accepted fact that if an Arab or a Muslim state that has to be attacked, it is essential that the state be branded a terrorist infested government, and rest assured the world will condone it...I need not go any further on this.
Back to us, we the Malays have to bend over backwards to prove we the Malays are not racist or extremist or, as perceived by Chinese or Indians, that we are baby eating monsters.
We the Malays are actually nice people, we have been so for many centuries now!
However, the chauvinist Chinese, especially, find it convenient to push and to push because they think they know we, the nice Malays, will not react for fear of being branded extremists or racists. So what do we do, we will relent and accommodate!!
If we Malays question many incorrect statements made and behaviors shown by the chauvinist non-Malays, we will be chastised and branded and be called "terrorists". Hey, this has to stop!

"Undilah" public service announcement smells a rat!

Let me cut to the chase, I have never considered Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah to be a potential Malay leader with enormous caliber or charisma as in the same category as Tunku, Tun Razak, or Tun Mahathir or Dato' Seri Najib, or even Tun Hussein.
In my mind eyes I simply could not visualise Tengku Razaleigh as a potential Malay leader to be entrusted in looking after my people (Malaysians that is, make no mistake here) and to look after my country (speaking on my behalf that is)!
I have never gotten a satisfying answer from him when he was a finance minister during the BMF scandal where billions of ringgit of Malaysian money that got ripped off in Hongkong.
A Bank Bumiputra auditor by the name of Jalil Ibrahim, was sent to Hongkong to investigate he was found murdered in a banana grove near Tau Pu Kau, in the New Territory in Hongkong then. I was there and I prayed for his soul hoping to set it free.
I also remember interviewing the late Jalil's wife and she told me then that two things she would teach her children, one, to hate the Malays and two, to hate Bank Bumiputra! I would not blame her for that for I could feel thepain that she had to go through with the brutal death if her husband.
As journalist then we were told not to ask too probing a question on the BMF fiasco, big fiasco indeed, when Tengku Razaleigh was the finance minister. Read here on the BMF fiasco if you wish!
What prompted me to dig out the past?! Well, it started when I saw Tengku Razaleigh was in a YouTube in a purported Public Service Announcement video but undoubtedly produced by the opposition, about trying to garner votes from the young.
He was featured saying that there are a lot of problem in this country and that he assumed everyone knows what these problems! He said new voters are needed to change the situation.
Then the video features many opposition members, known corporate figure and one very unpopular Chinese deputy minister of education from the BN component party, a badly brought up rabid Chinese rapper and two very fat and ugly Malay comedians. And unfortunately my two favorite people -- good friends Tony Fernandez and Yasmin Yusuf-- were also featured!
I have for once have to agree to an also a much less popular minister by the name of Rais Yatim who was quoted as saying the video was taken off the air because it allegedly portrays Malaysia a a country with too many problems. "My Ministry does not accept the video. It is not appropriate to be shown."
Kesimpulan nya Tengku Razaleigh, which country in the world that is actually free problems.
But, for a seasoned politician like Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, he should have known better not to be a pawn to the opposition!

Now that ISA and other draconian laws have been repealed the prime minister must do more. Now that we have a brave prime minister who dares to be brave and he should be more bold by making those born after Malaysia's independent day a bumiputra.
Actually, the debate about giving a bumiputra status for Malaysians born after independent day is well received.
This DAP chap, Manoharan, may be an ar#eh*le but a posting I made about his comment in 2009 was well received in my blogsite. Read here!
He said: "I want to meet the prime minister to propose that we accord Bumiputra status to all Malaysians born here after August 31, 1957 to dismantle racial barrier."
Well the bad news is Mano you cannot and are not qualified to see the PM for being an ars..ole but your suggestion must be seriously considered.
As for your assertion bro that the Jalur Gemilang should be change to a flag that resemble a flag of your temple of your choice, and for that you should be strung up upside downlike Mussolini on his last days of fascism in Rome!!
Back to bumi status for all Malaysians born after independence, with due respect my prime minister, this suggestion should at least be debated constructively.
As ars..h.le Mano also said the Malay provision in our constitution will not be touched but giving bumiputra status to those post-independence Malaysia but it is a sure and a one positive step towards your OneMalaysia concept!

Damned if you do, and damned if you dont!

For Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, it is a case of damned if you and damned if you don't! But someone has to do it.
I am talking about scrapping the two Acts--ISA and Banishment-- deemed draconian and previous prime ministers have considered these acts as a bane to their offices.
However, these two acts serve the purpose that is to make the country safe from elements constantly trying to overthrow the government of the day and disrupt and to tear our unique social fabrics.
ISA and the Banishment Acts will be replaced by other acts that will serve the purpose of keeping our country together, when passed these two acts will be in the same line as the US Patriot Act and the British and Singapore version of the ISA and rest assured when enacted these acts will behave accordingly....no more the carte blanche ISA!
So draconian is that I could not imagined I would be restricted to live in a small district like Machang, for example, and I would not be allowed to step out of the perimeter for say five years, and if did my sentence will be doubled?
I would prefer the proverbial US justice system of wearing an electronic ankle bracelet and this way we track down the "animals" where ever they would be roaming!

Najib delivering his message.

Thursday, September 15th 2011, a day that I will have no difficulty to remember! I woke up to a truly a glorious morning when the sky was blue, the clouds were snow white and the air was fresh, where you can see all the details of the leaves of the many Raintrees near my place!
That day was the first day of greatness after so many days of haze and pollutants and depression, the days where I did not fancy waking up and knowing I have to breathe foul air of Kuala Lumpur.
That evening at his Malaysia Day message to the nation, Prime Minister Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak stunned everyone, I am very sure including his detractors, that among other things future Malaysia would do away with the Internal Security Act (ISA), that draconian piece of legislation that has been a bane to our existence. An act that was designed to curb enemies of the states from destroying the fabrics of our society.
Who would think it but never underestimate the thinking power of Najib, who has been described by his detractors with many superlatives!
Just as the message was over, I received a message asking whether it was true, even his cabinet ministers, especially the Home Minister Hishamuddin Hussein, only knew five minutes before Najib delivered his message!? Then I told the message sender that he might be a confirmed moron!!
The journey to discuss the dissolution of the two acts, ISA and the Banishment Act, especially started more than two years ago. Among the discussions that Najib had with his closest and trusted aides were the scrapping of these two acts.
Sorry to burst your bubble, Opposition, the announcement was not made because of your pressure, please give us a break. Already an opposition member made an announcement that Najib plagiarised the announcement that was supposed to be made by the opposition...frankly I am tired of their rhetoric.
Make no mistake, but Najib is committed to making political transformation in the country and not pressured by any quarters especially the opposition, to do so!

A Malay looking little Chinese racist from Muar!

I would love to make a racist video attacking any stereotype Chinese character that I can think of, like the way they shoveled their chopsticks into their mouth when they eat, or when they hock and spit to the ground.
When after over 50 years of independence and some still cannot even speak the national language properly...so sigh! What can I say, but I will and can never do all of the above, for the sake of sensitivity, in view of our multi-racial setting etc!
Then along came this little Chinese racist named Wee Meng Chee or otherwise known as Namewee, from Muar, who once said in public that the muslim calls for prayers were like cock crowing...he equates and belittles a religious practices without compunction.

Only the descendants of the murderous Bintang Tiga at Malaysiakini can come out with another damaging story insinuating the prime minister of this country is irresponsible leaving the country on Merdeka Day. To begin with the National Day on August 31st was off, since the whole country was on leave due to Hari Raya.
The National Day for is year has been pushed forward to Sept 16th, to be celebrated together with Merdeka Day. Seriously the is no problem here, except some descendants of the notorious murderous Bintang Tiga at Malaysiakini decided to make an issue out of PM leaving the country -- for a knee treatment!
According to an officer with the Prime Minister Office, Prime Minister Dato' Sri Najib Razak had to go to Perth, Australia, to seek intensive therapy treatment for his knee that was operated upon recently.
"The intensive therapy will improve the condition of his operated knee. The PM is taking a short break but will be back in time to celebrate our National Day on Sept 16, and there is nothing sinister, irresponsible nor is there anything wrong in seeking a treatment so that the prime minister can ease his nagging knee problem," said the officer.
The officer added that it was an opportune time for him to go for the treatment since there was no official Merdeka Day celebration on August 31st.
So Malaysiakini, or rather Stephen Gan my friend, just apologise and tell your reader that you story was full of malice intended. For the record Perth has got a good program in sports medicine. Give the man a break!! He is also entitled for a downtime especially to recover from an operation!!

The Chinese Bintang Tiga did try to seize control of Malaya!

Yes Chauvinist-Chinese via the Kuomintang Party have been trying to control this neck of the woods since time immemorial. A book "The Kuomintang Movement In British Malaya 1912-1949". Probably a good book to read and probably have some information on how the Chinese planned and tried to seize control of Malaya!

Chin Peng wanted to be the Supreme Leader of Malaya, a pipe dream indeed!

Wonder how many Malays they have killed!

The bloody and outrageous history involving the majority-Chinese chauvinist-cum-racist led Bintang Tiga group (in real fact they were the Kuomintang stragglers that were left behind to do their bidding) were intentionally or unintentionally left blurred to Malaysians.
Especially to the chagrin of the Malays who seek the truth on why there are still so many chauvinist Malaysian-Chinese subscribing to an equally chauvinist anti-Malay party pretending to be a liberal one.
The darkest period, darker than the Japanese occupation it was said, was when the Japanese had surrendered and the British were late in coming to fill in the 14 days vacuum. It took British Military Administration 14 days, and for 14 days the Bintang Tiga, which disguised themselves as the Malayan People Anti Japanese Army, or Malayan Communist Party (CPM)led by Chin Peng and his anti-British and anti-Malay marauders, went on rampage killing thousands of Malays.
My own uncle was placed in a gunny sack and hung and about ready to be skewered with sharp bamboo shaft and not until my late mother had to sell some land to pay for his life.
The Bintang Tiga Chinese officer who dragged my uncle into the gunny sack to be killed was his old child hood friend from the same village, so go figure on this one, eh!
Meanwhile, the Bintang Tiga wanted to take over the country to destroy the monarchy by killing them, and to take over but were not successful, thank God!.
The late Sultan of Pahang was saved in a nick of time from being ambushed by the Bintang Tiga, and the Bintang Tiga also went into the Istana Seri Menanti looking for the father of the present ruler to be executed.
When the British came to resume power the Malays were prevented from taking revenge against the Bintang Tiga stragglers who have innocently assimilated into the rest of the Chinese population on Ipoh, Batu Pahat, in Grik and just pick any Chinese town and rest assured the murderous Bintang Tiga members were there, trying to go legit.
Today, as far as I am concerned, the Bintang Tiga has taken a different form they have regroup and they have managed to form a country down south, and controled Penang where, like how the Malays were told when Bintang Tiga was in power for 14 days that they cannot pray loudly.
Meanwhile the Malays led by power-hungry Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (BABI) who is doing anything and everything in his power to stupid-fy the Malays and fragmenting the Malays, and while the ugly looking sarong clad PAS leaders who think they are Arabs, are trying to convince the Malays that they are in fact Arabs.
In the final analysis, the onus is on the Malays themselves to decide and to understand why they must be united and to be still supporting Umno, or they have no chance in hell to call this country their own again ever!

Reconciliation, for whatever its worth, can be achieved!

BARKING MAGPIE: A dangerous Troika in the making

Dear BarkingMagpie, I wanted to post these as comments in your blog. Google stopped me saying that it was too lengthy. Thus I decided to post it in my blog. I know of you casually, but I admire your courage, dedication and sense of loyalty. Keep up the good work.

BN ship is sinking, so it seems. Choice available for UMNO leaders- stay and drown with Najib or jump ship. Who knows you may be appointed Captain of the new ship.Some even asked. Why jump ship? Just change the Capt. Those are political talks. For Najib and Muhyuddin, you can choose to listen to all those talks or you can choose to ignore them. Most important, you are now airborne. Not much fuel left to turn back. Just stay on course. Dont have to listen to gossip of your air crews. However, Najib must admit his error of making the right judgement at the wrong time. He abandoned the Malay Brand that has been UMNO's pillar of strength. He fell to the advise of his adviser by opting for the new 1Malaysia Brand. Malays are disillusioned. They wont believe what Najib promised them anymore. They know Muhyuddin's promise for Malay Agenda to remain intact are just empty talk because as DPM, theres nothing much he could do to stop the 1Malaysia Agenda of Najib. Remember Tun Razak? He was the champion of Malay Agenda . Yet he is loved by all races because he is also the champion of justice and fairness to the non Malay. I know its difficult for Najib to reverse the loss of faith amongst Malays on his leadership but it can be done. It must be done because already people are saying, yang dikejar tak dapat di kendong berciciran. Undi Cina dan India tak dapat, Undi Melayu Hilang. It can be done without losing Chinese and Indian support. Just remember to be firm, strong, decisive but balanced. Now its not the question of Najib is wrong and Muhyuddin is right or vice versa. Its a question of looking at the bigger picture. We are looking at BN and PR as two bullet trains about to crash head on. We Malaysian must ponder for a moment. Do we go for GE13 and allow the two trains to collide ? or do we forge a NATIONAL RECONCILIATION FORMULA to save our country. Its not about saving Najib's leadership though RECONCILIATION PLAN could mean allowing Najib to take charge of Malaysia for another 5 or 10 years for the Plan to materialise. I know how we could make it work, I have the team to make it work. But, as always, Najib has abandoned old advisers (of which I could claim to be one of them). He is surrounded by new advisers. I know some of his closest advisers. Of what they said about him when Najib was DPM. Now, to my surprise, they came running back to him and are currently entrusted with strategic roles for Najib. I also knew what his Adviser based at UMNO Hq said to his friend before that adviser decided to turn back to Najib. Unfortunately, sad to say, these are the people who are rewarded whilst genuine others are sidelined (me included). Its hard to conclude without talking about Rosmah. I like her and admire her for her dedication and passion to see her husband succeed. Unfortunately many misunderstood her genuine intention and desire to be of service to the husband and to the country. But for that, many are jealous of her high profile. In fairness to Rosmah, please Google "the changing role of first lady" and you will find that Rosalynn Carter revolutionised American Politics and change the role of First Ladies. They no longer confined their role as persons who decide on what menu to serve or who sits where during State Dinner BUT First Lady do shoulder national responsibility by championing specific National Policies. If we genuinely want Malaysia to be politically mature , we should all encourage the wife of our PM to champion National Agenda and give her all our support. Read about Rosalynn Carter, Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama and you will note how involved are First Ladies of America, the Mature Democracy in the world- in policy making or advocacy. Give Rosmah what ever title that you prefer First Lady or what ever, but I had rather have Rosmah emulating Rosalynn Carter or Hillary Clinton in assuming the role of Trendsetting First Lady rather than having her meeting friends and doing the usual gossips, karaoke and pocho-pocho. Well there are lots of fitnah against Rosmah, but to me those are signs of forces who fear her potent role as Trendsetting First Lady. Nevertheless these forces have to be managed to minimise their impacts. Remember , its unfortunate that lies and deceits sell very well ( Someone told me I was victim of poison pen letter . I did not know about it until recently .I underestimated its impact and chose to ignore it by not clarifying the issue with my ex boss who did not bother to ask me about it ) As for you Barking Magpie. I know you, I like you and I like what you are doing. Its the way we should serve our boss - with sincerity, dedication and loyalty. Keep up the good work.Worry not about Muhyuddin - what matters most is for Najib to make sure that the rakyat and every one is behind Najib to give Najib thumbs up for his leadership. Reflect on what Mahathir did when UMNO was banned , he nearly lost his Prime Ministership and UMNO war lords were about to turn their back against him. What he did was to make sure all NGOs, CSOs were in full support of him when they all visited him at Seri Perdana. He went to the grassroots and reach out for the rakyat. Overnight, all the "shaky UMNO warlords " returned in full force to pledge their undivided support for him. Have no fear when the Rakyat is With you - that was what I told Mat Taib when he faced political turmoil following his secret marriage. Najib, is blessed with good look and charisma though he may like do some workout to look slimmer like Obama. He will have the appeal to bring all the rakyat together to support him for what he could do to transform the country. It can be done, I know how to make it happen. NATIONAL RECONCILIATION PLAN (Mandela did that and he is now a living legend) Nevertheless, I hope his advisors would reflect and reengineer the way they do their work. It has to be Business Unusual for Najib. All the very best.

According to Google, troika is a general meaning of the Russian word troika is three of a kind, a collection of three or simply the number three.
So let me cut to the chase all right, lately there has been a lot of write ups, innuendos, allusion and sadly rumours stating that Muhyiddin Yassin -- and Tengku Razaleigh and may be Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (thus the Troika) -- is ganging up against Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak for the top post!
Now then, there are rumours and there are rumours, but when it first came out we just scoffed it off as just an opposition ploy to draw a wedge between the PM and his Deputy, but today that rumours is taking a life of its own.
I managed to convey a message to the DPM through his close associate and my friend, whom I have known for over 30 years starting in Canada, that why is that a certain officer associated with the DPM has been known to go around maligning the PM and his wife.
I added if such malicious rumours spread by this certain officer associated with the DPM still persist then I have to believe the rumours to be sanctioned by the DPM about his boss.
The Troika, so it appears, to to ensure the prime minister fumbled and the "ball" be grabbed by his deputy with the help Ku Li or, as far fetched as it may seems, by Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim, I still cannot imagine in my mind how this will be done!
As a coveted trophy that anyone, including Ku Li and Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim, wants it is not impossible that the PM's deputy is trying his round about ways to discredit his boss.
If not, then Muhyiddin Yassin must do something real to ensure that he is one hundred percent behind Najib Tun Razak and Umno or the Malays can kiss their power of running the country good bye.
The Malays does not need anymore schism as it is now, with the rumours of a coup detat by Najib's deputy. So Muhyiddn please stand up in public and clarify, or sack your officer responsible in churning such rumours on your boss that you appear to be giving the green light to be spread around!

Why? I would imagine there would be less destruction, be it mental or physical!
If evolution had stopped at us being a monkey or ape or orang utan, there would not have been the two wars, holocaust, nuclear bombs, chemical bombs, Hitler, Mussolini, Berlusconni, craving for fossil fuel, pornography, Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim, teen age pregnancies, paedophile, racism, Lim Guan Eng (and his father), Karpal and his children, gas guzzling Hummer, or yeah Arnold Schwarzenegger, bad karaoke singers, fake boobs, eeerr.....what else, CNN, BBC, Rupert Murdoch, David Cameron, John McCain, no Pippa Middleton (and she is not even attractive), err no me.
If evolution had stopped at us being monkey and ape, the war would have been a typical war, where we would chase each other clubbing one or two then eat the meat, like chimps and bonobos do now.
No riots in England, where people went on a rampage looting (someone actually got raped but nobody wants to focus on that), no famine in Africa, and no fake eggs! No ineffective Political Secretaries, no inept Press Secretaries...oh God the list can still go on!
No organised religions, where each will try to convince each other of how good one religion is!
No Chinese person hocking or spitting in a waste bins at every casino in the world where there are Chinese person gambling (now do not, repeat do not, go around calling me a racist, since only Chinese do this according to many casino managers.)
No crude and smelly Indians, and no ill-mannered and ingrate Malays who like to pretend they are Arabs, and no fake single malt in the market where many people drink and died!
No Paris Hilton, no the Khardasian sisters....or Donald Trump and his fox-head, oh so many if we had not evolved!
The point IS, I do not see any real point except what would have happened if we had not evolved! That's all??!! Happy Fasting and Happy gout season!

Well Datuk Sri Tony Fernandes if MAS cannot do it please take over and make us proud again!
The headline of my posting is about AirAsia to take over MAS (its a done deal, might as well)!
I am writing this in a hotel room at Lester Pearson International airport, in Toronto.
You know as you go along in life you interact and meet many interesting people and as you get older you look back and be happy to acknowledge to yourself that you have had a good fortune of knowing this guy or that person.
I was introduced to Datuk Seri Tony by my good friend Datuk Rocky Bru and since then I have the opportunity of interacting with a man who dares win and to think big and made it through life and at the same time made Malaysia aviation industry a known player again...well not quite just yet to me! You have to have full control of MAS, if this airline is sliding to substandard condition!!
On a personal note I want to thank AirAsia for giving me a chance to visit places such as Menado, in Sulawesi, and Balik Papan in Indonesia, and Bali on a good and reasonably cheap fare. Prior to AirAsia I could only imagined and dreamt of such faraway places. MAS was not interested to such places as a destinations.
At Toronto airport, I was looking at the names of all the international airlines that fly to Canada: Names such as Singapore airlines, Eva Air, Etihad, Emirates for example were on the board, but Malaysia Airlines was not on the list.
Sometime I wonder why is it that our national carrier, that once upon a time compete with Singapore Airline, Jal, Qantas and many more famous brands, is now a pathetic airline as far as I am concerned. Is this a reflection of of how we managed our country's national assets??
Tony, please take over MAS and make it a member the Star Alliance, that exclusive airlines fraternity. Singapore is a member!! So why, to my mind, that MAS was allowed to slide into the same status as Air Mexicana, Vietnam Airline when we could have improved ours into an airline that the whole world will know.
As for people criticising you Tony, well you know what they say: Criticism is a form of envy!
You have done well for yourself, our aviation industry and you keep on going, just take over anything within the industry and improve it at your own pace!
I bet you MAS did not even think of Parit Buntar as you do, eh! I like that!

British Prime Minister David Cameron told his parliament that Britain's lawless minority needs to be checked and dealt with severely, and the police supports his statement. Those responsible, said Cameron, must be made answerable!! Meanwhile in Malaysia, the government is still being coerced, bullied, cajoled and blackmailed into submission by our own lawless minority led by BABI. We, the silent majority, cannot take it any longer, something must be done!

We chased after terrorists and enemies of the state like Chin Peng and his gang, and many others! Why couldn't the government go after one man who has caused countless damage to the country, to the government and dividing Malaysians into serious and dangerous racial divide, that this country has ever experienced since My 13!

Is it because we are afraid because this man is protected or perceived to be protected by the super power? Personally I don't think they give a damn!!
But why are we so afraid from a man who organized demonstrations against the government of the day causing millions of ringgit in income from petty traders and causing investors shying away from Malaysia and still showing that smirk saying "I can do what I can" and "catch me if you can?"
Yes we are talking about Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim!!
As a citizen of this country I do not feel safe when he is around inflicting mayhem to the society and country and I am also afraid this present government is not brave enough to tackle this problem!
Personally speaking I am angry and fed up!
I want this man to be charged and sentenced for good.
In London Prime Minister David Cameron is bend on catching those involved in organizing the riots that caused a lost of lives and properties and the police there made a pledge when caught these perpetrators will be dealt with severely!
I wish we can say the same! But we a re afraid!!

First it was Lady's Choice now its Starbucks, what's next!?

First it was Lady's Choice! And it wasn't true?!

Now it's Starbucks? Come on!

We do know how powerful Internet can be as a tool nowadays, so we have said many times to remind us to be responsible in what we write, right!? Well, wrong!
I saw a site that says Starbucks, an alleged Jewish owned chained and I don't understand why the writer had to mention that is so as a fact I don't know, that the coffee sold at this popular coffee chain is laced with pork product.
This may be enough for Muslims in the country to panic or to not patronise this international coffee chain.
I dread to think that there is an agenda behind this sudden anti-Starbucks campaign, for I love Starbucks coffee especially the long black in a mug, I always ordered that at Bangsar Village One.
I just hope that there was no malice intended by the blogsite in particular when feeding us with such information.
On serious note, we have to stop this anti-Jewish stance,it is not helping Malaysia. BTW Starbucks is doing so well in the Gulf states in the middle-east and I have no idea what is the agenda behind this what appears to be a sudden anti-Starbucks campaign!
I still remember many years ago how Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (BABI) ordered a campaign against a product called Lady's Choice (owned by Unilever if am not mistaken) saying the jelly jam used pork product. The product was later given a clean bill of health after some checking!
Later on we found out that BABI was angry with this particular company for not complying with his request! The request was a donation of a large sum of money in which Lady's Choice said Nyet, it means no!
For the sake of reducing our state of paranoia, especially during this fasting month, I hope the site that alleges Starbucks is a Jewish-owned company is feeding pork to Muslims in this country to double check its information!

Spate of extreme acts of terrorism by extreme right-wing religious fundamentalism - be it Muslim or Christian or Hindu etc- must be treated swiftly and checked without fear or favour.
Recent massacre and bombing in Oslo by a blonde, white right-wing Norwegian Christian fundamentalist fanatic is just to show that rightist and an extreme fundamentalism shows no colour!
I implore our government to deal with the rising voices of religious fundamentalism in Malaysia since these group of thinking will and cannot not talk to the people at the roundtable but they just want to shoot them.
I enclosed a letter written by a terrorism expert who wrote a letter to the Prim Minister of Norway that the tragedy in Oslo is a lesson for every one to do everything in their power to stop these extremist right wing religious fundamentalist at all cost.
Malaysian Government listen up, no more dilly-dallying on the issue just throw the Christian or Muslim or Hindu extremist in the dungeon and to do it now!!

Najib and the Pope, a good meeting which led to a better diplomatic relations between the Vatican and Malaysia!

Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razzak produced another major success for Malaysia’s global image, and for inter-faith dialogue, this week when he established formal diplomatic ties between Kuala Lumpur and the Holy See.

During a meeting with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI in Rome yesterday, Prime Minister Najib publicly reaffirmed his Government’s commitment to freedom of religion and stated that his goal is to promote international bonds of friendship between Malaysia and the Vatican. The formal agreement now gives the country’s nearly-3 million Roman Catholics and Christians an additional voice inside Malaysia.

This agreement has been years in the making and it is proof positive that the Prime Minister and his government are serious about religious diversity and protecting religious minorities. The Prime Minister clearly made the case to the Holy See that his majority-Muslim country is committed to respecting and protecting its religious minorities since the Vatican’s main criteria for agreeing diplomatic relations is the promotion and protection of interfaith dialogue within a country, and the absence of religious persecution.

Dawn of a new era yes, but not at the expense of breaking Malay unity!

Syed Akbar’s blog headline should have read “Ku Li for PM, again??!!” With lots of question and exclamation marks! I’ll get back to that later.

I have always enjoyed reading the Outsyed The Box(OTB) columns which are always funny, witty and like Russell Peters jokes, full of deep and well entrenched meaning. You will laugh at it and later on you will start thinking, “What a profound “joke” that was.” I have made it a routine every morning to switch on Russell Peters YouTube, and then to OTB, with my cup of coffee before I face the day (Gordon Lightfoot!)

I read OTB with so much consternation on mentioning that Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, or KuLI, is said to still harbor thoughts of becoming a prime minister. Well, as they say, it is good to dream of something, but then that dream must be a realistic one. Lest we forget it was KuLi who mangled and skinned and mutilated Umno when he lost to Tun Mahathir Mohamad, by forming Semangat 46 (S46).

We were lead to believe that Mahathir had cheated at the leadership convention by stuffing party elections ballot boxes to ensure his winning as Umno president. For a party president who “cheated at ballot boxes” Mahathir brought Malaysia to the world stage and made our country to what it is today.

When he lost the party elections, like a spoil brat, I was told he was and still is, he threw a tantrum and convinced other Umno leaders like Rais Yatim, Shabery Cheek and many more Umno stalwarts to join S46.

I don’t know, but I am from a generation who grew up with only two Malay political parties – Umno and PMIP, later called PAS. My late father was an Umno member, together with the late Tan Sri Samad Idris, but later joined PMIP when he thought Umno had strayed from its original path of what he believed in.

At that point in time if you were unhappy you just quit and joined the other party and the Malay voters will still be intact. It did not matter if you were Umno or PMIP (Pas now).

My late father was a good friend of Dato Mohamad Asri Muda, the most illustrious leader of the PMIP. I still remember when Asri came to our house in Kampung Baru, together with Burhanuddin Helmy, Lebai Majid from Seri Menanti and they chatted and laughed until the wee hours of the morning.

I also remember when our convoy of many cars on the way to attend a funeral of another PMIP stalwart Dr Dzulkifli died in a car crash and my father was driving a Borgward, when we stopped by the roadside near Kuantan for a pit stop. My late father, Asri Muda and few PMIP members and some Umno stalwarts stood by the road side to pee. The point is here, I believe, neither Umno nor PMIP (which is Pas now) consciously tried to break the Malay unity. You know the saying right; a united race is the one that laughs, and pees together!

Back to KuLi; his obsession to become the prime minister is beyond funny, it’s hilarious. Like Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (BABI), he wanted so badly to become a prime minister that he was willing to sell his soul to the Chinese opposition party, or to the Devil.

Already the Malay unity had been traditionally split up between Umno and Pas, but surely the Malays can see that they are being further eroded by parvenu Malay organizations and parties such as Pakatan Rakyat, Pas, Kita, Perkasa and now Amanah to be lead by KuLi?

If only the Malays are truly united and aware and realise where they are heading for right now? But as it is, they are expressing that typical Malay amok syndrome of cutting off your nose to spite your face, then regretting it later on when it was too late.

The only vehicle for the Malays to be a master in their own home and to determine their future is by giving full support for Umno which needs to be reformed. Yes, I agree that changes are needed within Umno. To do this, people like KuLi must be sincere and not clamour for that coveted leadership post. They must help the existing leadership to ensure Malays will be still relevant from now until forever.

As it is now, the way I see it, Umno as it is can never be truly invincible with still people within the party, some holding cabinet posts, who are still not sincere and committed to the leadership of Najib Tun Razak.

He feigned injury again? For the umpteenth time!??

I have seen this movie before and this man deserves a Bollywood best acting award!

BABI and his bodyguard smeared with probably fake blood,I am sure of it, and seeking international sympathy!

Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (BABI) was quoted in the Kingdom of Bahrain tabloid Daily Tribune saying: "They shot directly at us. I could hardly breathe and stand up at the time." Well where else would a riot police shoot at to disperse unruly demonstrators? The answer is: directly at them!
However, BABI gave the impression the police is brutal, the impression he wants to give to the world to discredit our police force!!
This tabloid also said BABI told this tabloid from a hospital bed, where the he was kept overnight and was on a pain killers.
Well all I can say is this man is the greatest actor and an accomplished drama king of all time from Malaysia.. His pathetic [picture showing him in hospital bed,I am sure, is being distributed around the world and thus place Malaysia in a bad light once again.
He has feigned injury on various occasions and even accused the Malaysian government of being out to murder him by staging an accident, and that the government might inject HIV-positive tainted blood in his body, while he was in custody so he will die a miserable death.
But he lives on to inflict injury to Malaysia to the rest of the world!
Well, some may believe him some may not but the point is for how long are we going to endure this one man crusade to destroy multi-racial Malaysia, and what is the government going to do with him.
This acknowledged racist (he does not like Indians) must be stopped, and to stop this Malaysians must come to their senses, or we are doomed!

The Malays are the most accommodating people on earth, to a point of stupidity!

I have always been a happy MALAYsian living in this country for most part of my life sharing it with others like Malaysians of Chinese descent, Malaysians of Indian descent and other Malaysians.
If you are born in this land called Malaysia you are officially and distinguishably a Malaysian and no one can tell you otherwise, and you, we, have to live by the system set up and agreed upon by our modern founding fathers.
Worth to remember that the Malay sultanate and the first Malay governance which governed this country since time immemorial have openly embrace others who came to settle here and decided to make this once called the Federation of Malaya, or Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, to be their home.
To make the non-Malaysians to be feeling more at home and more comfortable the system also decided to chance the name of the country to Malaysia, so every one now it happy or so it appears.
So today there are group or groups of the malcontent descendants or the original non-Malay Malayans or Malaysians that are bent to destroy what has been agreed upon by our forefathers.
This I, and many others, cannot just sit back idly watched a few descendant of the original inhabitants of this land now called MALAYsia try to shred this country apart.
For I am MALAYsian and I will be forced to do what ever I have in my power to stop this madness and those who feel the same way must do the same! Read more here!

Lee Kuan Yew campaigning in Malay areas wearing songkok and the Malays were flattered then it was too late!!! Guess what the DAP is doing the same!!

When Lee Kuan Yew was campaigning to take over Singapore from the Malay he went about campaigning in Malay areas even wearing songkok, a Malay hat!
Malays in Singapore at that time was so taken in by Lee's smile plus his songkok. Lee Kuan Yew even succeeded in convincing the Malay politicians from various Malay political spectrum in Singapore - from the far left to far right and the centrist - to support him for, they did, and you know the rest of the story.
Lee Kuan Yew and his PAP won. Guess what, all of his staunch Malay supporters were left in a lurch and later when they complaint Lee Kuan Yew jailed and exiled them.
You see, PAP like the DAP (actually they are one and the same) have only one goal in mind to make Singapore and now the Malay peninsula a Chinese dominated country.
Like PAP, the DAP is using desperate politician like Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (BABI) and paedophile Nik Ajis of Kelantan, and serial polygamist Hadi Awang to help it win that goal.
The sad part is the Malays led by BABI, as I have said above, are easily taken in by sweet talk and lies and chicanery of the Chinese-led opposition party.
Unless the Malays are united they will risk living under Chinese rule ala Singapore.
As for BABI he does give a damn about anything else for this man is fighting to be a prime minister in which he is not qualified to be be and failing that he will do anything to convince his family that he is not a sodomite!
Either way he is dangerous and ought to be put away! You know the saying: "They shoot horses, don't they!"

You decide if you are capable, eh!

Prime Minister Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak said the public can decide whether the man featured in a sex video clipping is indeed that of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
"This is something they have to judge for themselves. The most important thing is to determine the authenticity and find the truth. It's up ton the people to decide," he said recently.
My only problem is if the video is authentic and the man may turned out to be the leader of the opposition, then the police report that he made to pronounce the video was doctored and the man featured in it was not him was false, shouldn't he then be also charged for making a false report? Isn't it against the law to do such thing?
Or may be he thinks the laws in this country is a joke!? He probably said to himself: "Hey I can fucked Malaysian judicial system and laws at any time to my liking and nobody can touch me-(sniggered)."
Well, as far as I am concerned the man feature in the sex video clipping is that man. There is no doubt in my mind that it is him! You decide then! Read further here....

Cairo's Tahrir Square street demo on 18th Dec 2010 that spelled the end of dictatorial Hosni Mubarak! For the uninitiated, the city of Cairo has a population of over 17 million, unemployment rate as stated in 1995 was at 7.6% and rising! Basically people are not all that happy with their lives!

Those were the exact sentence used by former prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, to stress a point to former MCA chief Neo Yee Pan when the latter tried to threaten a massive Chinese demonstration. Mahathir said if you think you can have a bigger demo we can even have bigger one.

"Yours can be big, but mine can be bigger," he told the belligerent Yee Pan. The Chinese demonstration did not take place since it was common sense that prevailed at the time.

So I hear there is this planned massive demonstration against the present government, what else can the demonstration be against right, by the opposition to force the government to accept its demands.

I was told the opposition under the control of Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (BABI) has a hand in this dangerous manoeuvre to make the government of the day succumbed to its demands.

Well the bad new is this is not the Middle East where rampant street demonstrations, dubbed the Arab Spring protest and demonstration, have many repressive governments starting with Egypt's Hosni Mubarak being overthrown.

The good news is this is Malaysia, one of the most successful Asian countries in the region. Far from being a repressive country, even the leader of the planned massive demonstration led by a very vile and ugly man-looking Hindu Malaysian woman lawyer will go back to her luxurious home driving her expensive car after a hard days work demonstrating against the present government.

The good news is, Malaysia is nothing like any of the Arab Spring countries, like Egypt where unemployment rate is so high that people in Cairo is so poor that they have overtaken a cometary compound for a living space.

Malaysia is nothing like Sudan, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Yemen and many more repressive and dictatorial governments!!

I will say this: If the Bar Council or any other group and association that have any misgiving about many things try to remove this government via a democratic ways but not through blood shed for all of us to regret later on!

Surfing through the net and found this interesting article written by an American writer, Benjamin Domenech, who made a very interesting observation on world politics and of Malaysia especially and he has been writing quiet a bit on our Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim. Below is an excerpt...

I’ve made no secret of the fact of my distaste for Anwar Ibrahim, and not just because he’s the Muslim Brotherhood’s kept man, and not just because his choice of coalition partners includes a band of hardcore socialists and Islamists who regretted not being able to shoot Americans during the invasion of Afghanistan. But I will freely confess that he is a terribly interesting person — and one clearly suffering from the same encompassing wave of uncritical love that enabled Congressman Weiner to telegraph his eponymous body part to any woman he felt would want to see it.

In Anwar’s case, that love — from Western media and politicians who should know better, from Malaysian websites that uncritically regurgitate his talking points, from his bands of loyal followers — has at the very least deluded him into a sort of messianism, where the democratically elected government of Malaysia is Olympus to his Prometheus. At the worst, if the allegations against him are true, it has led him to believe that forced sodomy and infidelity are excusable for him.

Anwar is fascinating not for his apparent proclivity to do vile things — small men do small things, and there are many small men in the world — but for the uncritical love he inspires from men who should know better, and how he reinforces that love while allegedly doing terrible things; the reinforced love simply provides him another buffer to continue the range of behaviors that make him so vile. Like Dominique Strauss Kahn, whose alleged proclivities to serial infidelity and at times (still allegedly!) brutalization of women were quietly known and ignored or excused, Anwar has generated the sort of blind loyalty that leads men to suicide charges into set pike formations. Strauss-Kahn is a complete puzzle, a short, dumpy man possessed of neither good looks nor telegenic charm, who has nevertheless apparently managed to gain a reputation as a Lothario (a feat comparable Michael Moore winning acclaim as a dieting expert) and qho nearly rose to the highest levels of power in French politics. Anwar and Weiner at least know the value of making the cameraman feel like you’re smiling just for him. Read more here

A letter to editor, to even Malaysiakini, was issued by the Department of Information and Public Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia to dispute lies spread by a so-called PAS Muslim member of parliament from Kuala Selangor, Dzulkefly Ahmad, who said, without checking his facts, that the prime minister, Najib Razak, abused public fund!

He told Malaysiakini ,that Najib went to Kazakhstan to attend his daughter's wedding to a son of prominent Kazakh politician. Wisma Putra has released a press statement to all editors (below) that the visit to this Central Asia state is a long standing itinerary set by Wisma Putra and the PMO to coincide Najib's visit with the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum. It has nothing to do with anything personal.

One has nothing to do with the other, it is just a spurious relationship, that his daughter happens to be getting married to this chap from this Central Asian country, while his father (Najib) is representing Malaysia.

Sabenar saya sudah bosan dengan telatah orang Melayu macam Dzulkefly Ahmad yang sembahyang tonggang tongget sampai dahi beliau hitam tapi masih turut buat fitnah!!

Dear Editors,

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to clarify an issue raised in Hazlan Zakaria’s article, "PM’s use of public funds for wedding trip morally wrong” (Malaysiakini, June 7).

2. The Prime Minister’s visit to Kazakhstan is to fulfil his acceptance of the long-standing invitation by H.E. Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan for our Prime Minister to undertake an official visit to Kazakhstan. The visit which took place on 5 to 6 June 2011 was the Prime Minister’s first official visit to the country and reciprocated the visit to Malaysia by President Nazarbayev himself in June 2006.

3. During the visit, the Prime Minister paid a courtesy call on President Nazarbayev and also held bilateral consultation with H.E. Karim Massimov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. The visit did not just elevate the bilateral relations between the two countries but had also generated many business opportunities for Malaysian business community. It may be worth highlighting that Kazakhstan is Malaysia’s biggest trading partner among countries in Central Asia.

4. The visit to Kazakhstan also coincided with the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum (7^th WIEF) from 7 to 9 June 2011 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The Prime Minister’s attendance at the 7^th WIEF was in his capacity as head of government, representing Malaysia and as patron of WIEF. As you may well be aware, WIEF is an initiative started by Malaysia which has evolved since its inauguration in 2005 as one of the important platforms for dialogues and exchanges of cutting edge ideas, and business networking between governments and business leaders across the Muslim world and beyond. The decision for Kazakhstan to host the 7^th WIEF on these dates was reached more than a year ago, when Malaysia hosted the sixth series of WIEF in May 2010.

5. On the whole, the visit had brought about a substantial development in Malaysia-Kazakhstan bilateral relations which is mutually rewarding. It has also reinforced the close relations between the two countries as well as promoted meaningful cooperation and dialogues among developing countries primarily members of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

6. As such, the claim by some quarters that the visit was for the wedding of the Prime Minister’s daughter is totally unfounded.

This is what an influential American online news portal the New Ledger wrote about our prime minister:-

It is perhaps common for citizens of the Western world to look out in despair upon the panoply of Muslim-majority countries in the world for a ruling government whose understanding of history and world affairs is not warped and distorted by paranoia of Israel and the West. The average exposure the Western citizen has to a Muslim leader’s understanding of world affairs is doubtless limited to the rantings of demagogues like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran and others. Many of these leaders publicly see the world through the prism of Holocaust denial, Jewish conspiracies, and plots by the Great Satan to oppress Muslims.

Some of these leaders come by these beliefs honestly; others doubtless espouse them in order to deflect their own citizens’ discontent away from their government and onto a handy target. In either case, a common theme arises – while many majority-Muslim countries have governments that are very wealthy, their citizenry is often horribly poor and disconnected from any sort of meaningful and unbiased news source. And so men like Ahmadinejad grab Western headlines with their inflammatory headlines and here in the United States we are left to wonder: Are there no leaders of Muslim countries who have any understanding of how to guide their country into a prosperous partnership with the rest of the world?

To any who are thus concerned, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s remarks at the 10th International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue should provide a welcome antidote. Like many majority-Muslim countries, Malaysia is a multi-ethnic country. Although the majority of Malaysians are Malay Muslims, a non-trivial portion of Malaysia’s population consists of Chinese expatriates (who are heavily Christian), along with countless other smaller minorities of various faiths. Many majority-Muslim countries in today’s world respond to their minority populations with brutal oppression; Najib’s government has eschewed this path in favor of peaceful cooperation with Malaysia’s minorities, allowing them a meaningful voice in a truly functional democracy. It is perhaps not surprising that the result of this is that Malaysia has a modern economy that interacts peacefully with the world around it.

In his Keynote Address at the Shangri-La Dialogue, Najib demonstrated that this fact was no accident, but rather was the result of the leadership of a government with a keen understanding of its region and an ability to view the world through the prism of its trading partners, even favorably invoking Henry Kissinger’s “long arc of history,” an unthinkable prospect for many leaders of majority-Muslim countries.

The cynics thought that Asia and the West could never truly come together as a cohesive whole, that we had too little in common, that life in Surabaya was simply too far removed from life in San Diego. The last 10 years have proved them wrong. Yes, we come from many cultures and we speak many languages but, as US Defence Secretary Robert Gates – and I wish him well in his retirement – said in this room last year, the Pacific Ocean is not a barrier that divides us but a bridge that unites us.

Next month will see the 40th anniversary of Henry Kissinger’s secret mission to China, ahead of President Nixon’s historic visit in 1972. Coming in the midst of the Cold War, Nixon’s visit shocked many in the United States. How could the fervently anti-communist leader of the Western world possibly sit down with his ideological adversary? The answer of course is that the United States saw in China the potential to become a counterweight to the Soviet bloc, but this new alliance went much further than that. Nixon’s visit was not just about the United States opening itself up to China; it was about China opening itself up to the United States. It is a relationship that has benefited both countries ever since, but such productive dialogue can only take place if there is an openness to engagement on both sides.

It is likewise welcome to find a leader of a majority-Muslim country confronting the problem of extremism head-on and unsolicited:

In Islam, we have a concept wasatiyyah, which means moderation or justly balanced. It is this spirit of moderation that has made Malaysia the country it is today, and that I believe will now be the key to overcoming the challenges we face together as a region. That is why, at the United Nations last year, I called for a new global movement of the moderates that would see government, business and religious leaders around the world face down extremism wherever it is found. Just as you cannot make the world a better place by passing a law proclaiming that it will be better, you cannot rid the world of extreme views simply by making them illegal. I have no doubt we can best foster tolerance and understanding not by silencing the voice of hatred, but by making the voice of reason louder and louder.

As responsible leaders, we cannot and should not squander the opportunity before us to help build a new world order, where a just and equitable peace predicated on the rule of law is the norm, rather than the exception. We know that governments that do not practice good governance are existing on borrowed time. We must ensure peace and stability at all levels – national, regional and global.

Najib’s speech as a whole displays the kind of regional leadership that has for too long been lacking among Muslim leaders. And the actions of his government bear it out – unlike many governments, Malaysia does not have a token democracy, but rather Najib’s governing coalition faces a real threat from Anwar Ibrahim’s coalition (which harbors within it the only true Muslim extremist party in Malaysia). And what this demonstrates to us is that when a Muslim leader must actually be responsive to his population and ensure their prosperity (or risk electoral defeat), then there is hope that perhaps things are not as bleak as we have supposed.

Many a time in the course of the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy II trial, the question was raised as to how a strong and reluctant twenty-something-year old man could be sodomised by a sixty-plus-year old person.

This question presupposes that an element of physical force was involved to bring the victim to submission. That supposition may be entirely erroneous.

A person of authority using his position or influence to gain sexual gratification from a person answerable or beholden to him is not a phenomenon either unknown or rare. It is in fact very common.

Think of those sexual abuse cases involving Catholic priests and altar or choir boys which till now are plaguing the Catholic Church, those cases in the US military where superior officers sexually harass and exploit junior female personnel, instances in academia where instructors use their position to gain sexual advantage over students.

In many cases, because of their shame, confusion and emotional trauma, the victims took a great deal of time, sometimes years, to speak out on the victimisation committed against them.

Very often, there was no physical violence threatened or inflicted and the victims appear to have physically consented to the sexual relations.

In actual fact, their mental confusion and reluctance to question or resist the ‘requests’ or ‘suggestions’ by a person they look up to made them vulnerable to sexual exploitation. Or the exploiter is someone the victim is dependent on for job security or career advancement. The Anwar/Saiful sodomy case can easily fit into this pattern.

Some people consider it inconceivable or impossible for Anwar to have forced Saiful to submit to be sodomised. This is a very blinkered view, almost wilfully ignorant of what had happened in other parts of the world.

The answer to the question posed many times by observers as to how it was possible that a 60-year old man can sexually exploit a physically strong 20-something year-old man is that the former by using his charisma, position and influence can persuade or coerce the latter to do things against the latter’s better judgement with no physical violence or threats necessary.

So the act can appear to be physically consensual but in the mind of the victim during or after the act, it is something done against his or her will and is forced on him or her.

Far from it for me to say at this point that was what actually transpired in the Anwar/Saiful sodomy case. That’s for the trial to decide. What I’m saying is that it’s time people stop playing stupid and start to accept that it is not an impossibility for sexual exploitation to have taken place with no actual physical resistance on the part of the victim.

Things get very complicated once the victim ‘submits’ to the exploitation as the element of consent arguably becomes apparent. It is for this reason that sexual harassment laws have been formulated to deter persons holding positions of authority and power in organisations from even attempting to take sexual advantage of their underlings.

Anwar Ibrahim’s Western Public Relations Effort Failing?

In the West, we tend to ignore the Muslim countries of Southeast Asia too often in favor of the more rambunctious Middle East; whether this is because we are concentrating our limited energies on the larger problem spot, or ignoring places where things are going well, is probably a function of one’s particular outlook on life. Regardless of the source of this disregard, it is an error as great as choosing to ignore the safe streets in city planning in favor of the bullet-ridden ones. The good things don’t last without some tending of their own.

That leads to Malaysia, a moderate Muslim country with strong trade ties to the United States, that we too often ignore along with its other, moderate neighbors in favor of a pointless bombing campaign in Libya and other adventures in futility. Malaysia has done well for itself, holding fast to a moderate strain of Islam while continuing to grow energetically. It is not heaven on earth, but it is better than most Muslim nations, with religious minorities freely practicing their faith, and calls for extremism loudly and roundly denounced by most Malaysians. It is in and from this fertile ground that Malaysia’s current prime minister, Najib Razak, boldly decried the practice of suicide bombing, eschewing the usual Islam-means-peace pablum for a concrete denunciation of murder and suicide, explicitly calling them contrary to Islam and a mark of barbarism.

This is especially significant because English is the lingua franca of Malaysia, and so Najib’s Oxford speech was reported and understood at home. He cannot — and to his credit, does not — play the all-too-common game of tell-the-non-Muslims-what-they-want-to-hear, revert-to-death-to-the-Jews-death-to-America at home.

His political opposite cannot say the same.

I’m on the record having a low opinion of Anwar Ibrahim, but that’s only because he’s a virulent anti-Semite with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood who formed an opposition coalition in his country by recruiting a political party best known for calling for volunteers to fight with the Taliban against the United States. So, you know, little things. But what’s worse is how he has played the nasty demagogue at home, then played the good democrat in the West; and what’s worse than that is how the Western policy establishment has historically tolerated this.

This is one of those critically easy policy rules: If someone is blathering about the Jews being the source of the world’s problems, or, more particularly, his own, he is a very bad man, a nutter, or both. You don’t need to be a failed painter with a nasty little mustache, a figurehead president with alleged (and hastily denied!) Jewish ancestry, or a former military juntaist whom we have unaccountably not snuffed as he has gone on to destroy one of the most vibrant and productive economies in Latin America for this to be so. You can be an opposition leader trying to wrest control of your country’s parliamentary system from someone you casually describe as being controlled by the Jews.

Indeed, given his ready trafficking in old anti-Semitic (and anti-Christian) tropes, it is a wonder the extent to which Anwar has retained so much of the goodwill he managed to rack up in the late Nineties. People whom many of us (I include myself) have respected for years tend to shock us by excusing away Anwar’s disturbing tells. Probably the best, single example of this I’ve seen has been Jackson Diehl excusing the anti-Semitism as an unfortunately necessary means of political survival (while giving Anwar an on-the-record opportunity to explain away his minutes-long rant as the result of a slip of the tongue), and giving Paul Wolfowitz, who really should know better, a chance to provide Anwar some same-themed cover. That neither man would tolerate this sort of doublespeak out of, say, a Saudi prince is a telling indictment of their willingness to suspend their disbelief at inconvenient times.

Diehl and Wolfowitz are hardly alone. For years — since at least 2008, when Anwar first explained his failure to win a national election as the result of the American Jewish Lobby doing … something — Western policymakers and opinion makers have given the man a free pass, ignoring each round of particularly vicious anti-Semitism as it occurs. Anwar has helpfully made himself available without pause or cessation, ready to say one thing to any Western voice that would listen, and another at home; he has been his own best press agent.

A strange thing seems to have happened of late, though. Anwar is on trial for forced sodomy (mistakenly described by Diehl and others who should know better as consensual sodomy), and the judge presiding over the case has allowed it to go forward. In a matter of days, Anwar will have to present his defense, and will doubtless explain again to Western ears that he is a beleaguered democrat facing a political charge (something the Washington Post seems inclined to believe credulously), and tell audiences at home that this is because of the Jews, the Israeli special ops, and/or the Americans.

But as yet, there is no groundswell of spontaneous opinion writing in his defense. There is no remarkable wave of excuses and dire warnings about democracy in Malaysia. There is, instead, silence.

I would submit this is the result of two, critical factors.

First, Anwar’s political touch is turning out to make a lot more lead than gold. Most recently, he has taken to excusing away his inability to move the needle in local elections, in the process doing critical damage to his coalition’s efforts in advance of the upcoming national elections by insulting a vital, potential ally. He compounded this by accusing the people of Sarawak — where he carefully hid his ties with radical Islam during the local elections, to no avail — of racism for failing to support his ticket, a charge that is not merely not helpful, but has the added bonus of being based on a complete misunderstanding of the facts on the ground.

The Western press likes winners and canny underdogs. It’s not quite so hot on fools who cannot keep their feet from their mouths.

The second, critical element here is the Obama Administration’s approach to Malaysia. I have been a not-infrequent critic of the Obama Administration’s foreign policy — confused, overt deference to the genocidal People’s Republic of China, and a willingness to snub the world’s most populous democracy are not actually achievements of which Americans should be proud — but this is one area in which the Administration seems to have caught on more quickly than its outside supporters and critics. Not only is the Secretary of State praising Najib’s call for religious moderation, but the Administration as a whole is treating Anwar as a matter of secondary importance.

And as we learned during the 2008 Presidential campaign, the media are nothing if not sensitive to the directions open and implicit of this President.

The next few months will be interesting to watch. Anwar’s trial will conclude with a verdict of some kind, and Malaysia will move toward its next national election. In the face of dual pressure, it would seem reasonable to assume that Anwar will step up his availability and his lobbying of the Administration to build support either for his appeal (if convicted) or his election efforts (regardless of the trial’s outcome).

Whether his one-man public relations campaign yields the same willingness to ignore rank anti-Semitism and tolerance of Islamist lunacy will rest on the Administration’s willingness to stand by its prior positions (an open question) and whether Anwar continues to inject his foot into his mouth when blood libels are not leaving it.

We’ve all had one of those days. You know, where you get into work late and tell your boss it was because traffic was awful, not noting that he was right behind you the whole way into work. Or where you tell your wife you raced right home from the office, only to have her inform you that the bar called because you left your wallet there.

Or the kind in which you tell the police that you never touched that chambermaid, or if you did, it was consensual, and then your DNA turns up on her dress. Such is a day in the life of Dominique Strauss Kahn, a man whom the great and the good defend even to the point of parody, as his continued fall from grace continues its slide into the mud. (The man did himself no favors with his behavior as he was trying to leave New York after the alleged assault.) His defense lawyers have settled on the proposition that their best angle of attack is that a random, attractive chambermaid was so overcome with the sexagenarian’s flabby looks that she allowed him to sodomize her, and then told the police it was rape. The DNA evidence, we are assured, will be used as proof of a consensual encounter, presumably on the theory that rapists tidy up after themselves after they finish. Read further here!

In the wake of IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s arrest for sexual assault (he is now former IMF chief), DSK and his friends have offered numerous defenses on his behalf—most of which have been ridiculed, and rightly so.

Here are a few of the best of them, all rejected immediately by the American public.

There’s the pretrial conviction complaint:

Well, clearly, the entire system is flawed. I mean, you have a case, a prosecution, that doesn’t care about the rules of justice… And makes it near impossible to defend ourselves. I mean, it’s basically, like convicting us today.

Questioning why we take the victim’s word for what happened:

But what was shocking is the fact that [the judge] chose to come up with a decision of prima facie, to come up with virtually a judgment, confirming and strengthening the entire case of the prosecution; credibility of the witness, all the ingredients have been supported.

And, of course, the political conspiracy:

Well, I’m not surprised by the decision of the judge, because I understand the system. This is a trumped up charge, politically motivated, there’s no basis in fact and law.

I’m sorry—my mistake. Those were all quotes from another high-powered opposition candidate charged with sexual assault. This guy—unlike DSK—has been fortunate enough to have the Western elite buy his story wholesale. It’s Malaysia’s Anwar Ibrahim, a media darling.

Anwar is currently on trial for sexual assault—for forcing himself on an aide. Of course the presumption of innocence until proven guilty is an important pillar of justice, and should not be discarded. Anwar’s accusers should have to prove their case, especially because Anwar is the opposition leader and he was once jailed on trumped-up charges for political reasons. But Anwar’s argument has not been that he is innocent so much as he doesn’t think there should be a trial at all—that he should be taken at his word, and that the public should assume all charges against him are political in nature. That is, to be sure, incompatible with our conception of a fair trial.

Furthermore, if there is reason for skepticism of Anwar’s accusers, there is also reason not to take Anwar at his word. Anwar professes the values of freedom and democracy, but how does that square with his decades-long involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood, or his sinister anti-Semitism—strong enough that B’nai B’rith urged American officials to cut ties with him?

Anwar’s defenders, like Paul Wolfowitz and Al Gore (“the timing of these new charges carries the strong odor of political manipulation”) as well as Joe Klein (“He is a wise, decent and courageous man”) sound an awful lot like DSK’s defenders Ben Stein (“Can anyone tell me any economists who have been convicted of violent sex crimes?”) and Bernard-Henri Levy (“the Strauss-Kahn I know… bears no resemblance to this monster, this caveman, this insatiable and malevolent beast now being described nearly everywhere”).

The point is not that DSK deserves the Anwar treatment, or vice versa. It’s that Anwar doesn’t deserve the Anwar treatment. And certainly Anwar’s accuser has earned the right to make his accusation without the international community putting him on trial in the court of public opinion.

The Unfolding Sagas of Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Anwar Ibrahim: A Study in Parallels

I noted before that Dominique Strauss-Kahn — disgraced former International Monetary Fund head and accused rapist — is aping an unfortunate aspect of the life of Anwar Ibrahim, as both are over-60 money managers who allegedly have a hard time keeping their genitalia out of places in which they are not welcome. The last three days have brought more revelations to the fore that only serve to heighten those parallels.

First and foremost, the charges against Strauss-Kahn now more closely mirror those against Anwar: Instead of ordinary rape, it is now forced sodomy of his victim, a maid at the hotel at which he was staying. That the man’s accuser may have HIV may explain Strauss-Kahn’s stay in the infectious disease ward at Riker’s Island, and his current status on suicide watch. (That he was denied bail on the strength of French protection of another sex offender, Roman Polanski, has to be gnawing at him in a uniquely French way.) While this does nothing to change the heinousness of the alleged crime nor to change the essence of the charge, the increased strength of the parallel is disturbing.

Both men have also resorted to pleading in the alternative. Anwar has denied the charges against him, and suggests that the entire affair is a government plot. Strauss-Kahn has done one better, first asserting that he had an alibi and that the entire encounter never happened, and now claiming that the entire encounter was consensual.

Anwar, of course, lacks Strauss-Kahn’s ability to switch his story to consent, because although he is basically being tried for forced sodomy, consensual sodomy is illegal in Malaysia. Instead, in another parallel, he and Strauss-Kahn have apparently both hit on what they clearly believe will save them from their current plights: A puff-campaign by surrogates abroad.

In Strauss-Kahn’s case, a veritable university full of economists and French politicians has lined up to excuse the man or his actions or both, as if being an economist with a nice job title exculpates a man from allegations of brutal rape.

In Anwar’s case, his private stable of mouthpieces has begun to collapse, most notably in the defection of blogger Raja Petra, whose public break with Anwar served as notice that Anwar’s incompetence and duplicity were finally taking a toll. Nevertheless, Anwar still has legions willing to excuse him of any act, including a former Vice President and Paul Wolfowitz, a former State Department official (who has himself had trouble associated with keeping his pants on). The Prime Minister of a majority-Muslim country, a strong U.S. ally, and one of the foremost voices for moderate Islam on Earth — real, serious Islam, the kind to which President Bush referred when he spoke of a “religion of peace” — gave a speech at Oxford today. It was a serious speech, a speech that grappled with real problems, and a speech that did not deny the violence done in Islam’s name, even while demanding that religious violence end.

This is a shame, and a burgeoningly tragic one at that. Najib Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, has been on a more or less singular crusade to convince the Muslim world — and the West — that there is a path for moderate Islam in the world, that Islam does not equal terror, and that the taking of a life is contrary to Islam and civilization. His speech at Oxford was of a piece with that.

In the holy Quran, Allah SWT expounds that, the very reason He creates human beings into distinct nations and tribes is as a blessing so that humanity may embrace and celebrate their diversity. When then, did Islam and extremism become synonymous? When then, did perpetrators of hate and terror hijack the religion of peace and compassion? How did acts of extremism by a few minorities of Muslims come to be seen as a reflection of Islam and its followers? Such vile misrepresentations are a source of great anguish to me and to the vast majority of Muslims.

When four young men headed south from Yorkshire one morning in July, six years ago, maybe they thought the home-made bombs they carried in their backpacks made them “real Muslims”. Maybe they thought that by blowing themselves up, they were acting in accordance with the will of Allah, that they were following the teachings of the Quran. How wrong they were.

I would like to emphatically state that those who strap explosives on their bodies and blow themselves up are not martyrs. They do not represent Islam. Unknowingly, they are misguided into committing a grievous sin. So too, all those who preach hate and stoke the fire of intolerance in leading to this most blasphemous act, they too are as guilty as the perpetrators. Our heart goes out to their victims who are innocent, defenceless civilians going about their daily life. Islam never condones such a vile act. Neither is it part of the teachings of Islam.

In fact, Islam abhors suicide; as stated clearly in the Holy Quran, Chapter 2 verse 195 which reads: “do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction”. Therefore, suicide is impermissible under any circumstances. Life in Islam is a sacred trust from the Almighty whose fate shall be determined by His will alone.

The salient point here is not whether we agree with the prime minister’s theological assertions, but rather we can appreciate the extraordinary effort he is making here, and the importance for the United States of his efforts. Malaysia is a country to which Americans do not often pay attention, even as its rapid development, moderate strain of Islam, and tradition of religious pluralism provide an example America should be holding up to the rest of the Muslim world. This is an oversight we need to rectify, as a quiet, international revolution is underway there, and the elected prime minister is leading it.

Indeed, it is worth noting that this is not the first time this prime minister has trod this ground. In Turkey earlier this year, he made the same points in an interview — that “[anyone] who wants to be part of the political process should adopt values that are compatible with democracy … It’s not just about having a vote and choosing your leaders; it’s also part of imparting the right values for democracy to work, because there are failed democracies as well.” While the revolutions in the Arab world have caught so much of our attention for their mix of moderation and radicalism, a quiet revolution has been underway in Southeast Asia, a revolution that will likely mean more to the future of the West and Islam than the more exciting rounds of violence and upheaval we have witnessed these last few months.

Najib Razak’s speech is one of those events that the Western press will largely ignore, and when it bothers to notice, it will treat as a mere footnote, because no one is being blown up, no riots are happening, and no one is being openly threatened with death. Those very qualities are what make this so remarkable. As we continue to fight our long, twilight struggle against terrorism, we would be well-advised to treat seriously this prime minister’s determination to show the world, Muslim and non-Muslim, that Islam can mean peace, and harmony, and tolerance.

Prosecutors have charged International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn with a criminal sexual act, attempted rape and unlawful imprisonment in the alleged sexual assault of a hotel maid in New York City, police said.

Strauss-Kahn, a key player in the world's response to the 2007-09 financial meltdown and in Europe's ongoing debt crisis, was removed from an Air France plane 10 minutes before it was to take off for Paris from John F Kennedy International Airport, New York police spokesman Paul Browne said.

A lawyer representing Strauss-Kahn, Benjamin Brafman, told Reuters in an email that the IMF chief "will plead not guilty." Mr Brafman made no further comment.

A 32-year-old maid filed a sexual assault complaint after fleeing the hotel suite at the Sofitel in Times Square where the alleged incident occurred, Mr Browne said.

Strauss-Kahn, 62, who has been considered a possible Socialist Party candidate in the French presidential election in April and May 2012, left the hotel after the incident, the police spokesman said.

The woman, who has not been named, "was brought by EMS (emergency medical services) to the Roosevelt Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries," Mr Browne said.

Mr Browne said Strauss-Kahn does not have diplomatic immunity.

Impact on IMF

Strauss-Kahn was on his way to Europe for a meeting on Sunday with German chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss the European debt crisis and then was to attend a euro zone finance ministers meeting in Brussels on Monday.

The allegation will be a major worldwide embarrassment to the IMF, which has authorised billions of dollars in lending programs to troubled countries and has played a major role in the euro zone debt crisis.

It follows the announcement on Thursday the IMF's No. 2 official, John Lipsky, plans to step down in August when his term ends.

The IMF managing director has yet to say whether he will run for president, although French opinion polls put him as a clear winner over conservative incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy if the two faced off in an election.

Strauss-Kahn took over the International Monetary Fund in November 2007 for a five-year term scheduled to end next year.

Before that, he was a French finance minister, member of the French National Assembly and a professor of economics at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris.

The IMF declined to comment and IMF board officials told Reuters they had not been informed officially of the incident.

Since taking over the IMF, he has won plaudits for putting the fund, the world's main overseer of the global economic system, at the centre of global efforts to cope with the financial meltdown of 2007-09.

Strauss-Kahn introduced sweeping changes at the global institution to ensure that countries swamped by the financial collapse had access to emergency loans.

He was pivotal in brokering a bailout program for Iceland, Hungary, Greece, Ireland, and recently Portugal.

He has also overseen internal changes that have given emerging market countries, such as China, India and Brazil, greater voting power in the institution, and weighed into thornier issues by urging China to allow its currency to rise in value in a dispute with the United States.

Based in Washington at the IMF's headquarters, Strauss-Kahn has continued to spend a lot of time in France, fanning speculation he was considering re-entering politics as a presidential candidate.

Mr Lipsky's planned departure and now Strauss-Kahn's detention raises questions about a possible leadership vacuum should the IMF chief be charged by US authorities or face possible discipline by the IMF board.

In some ways, vile anti-Semite and cowardly woman-abuser though he is, you have to feel sorry for Anwar Ibrahim. Well, you’d have to if he didn’t truck with Jew-hating Muslim extremists and use adoring political crowds as opportunities to take shots at his political opponent’s wife. But a more sympathetic man than Anwar would be a perfect tragic figure: A man who reaches his limits just shy of his goals; a man who can never quite reach the top; a man whose past crimes become less important than his present successes, which are themselves ultimately failures.

Anwar Ibrahim is a Sisyphus who never reaches the middle of the slope.

Anwar’s most famous, present achievement is to craft a dysfunctional opposition coalition composed of his own vanity party, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR); the socialist-left/secularist Democratic Action Party (DAP); and the sh’ria-obsessed Parti Islam Semalaysi (PAS). Just the descriptions of those parties makes clear that their unifying plank is desperation, a determination to finally win a national election against the hated Barisan Nasional, the governing coalition whose primary achievements are rapid economic progress and continued democratization. In other words, Anwar’s merry little band of schizophrenics must convince Malaysians that democracy and increasing standards of living are bad things, and that a group of socialists, Islamists, and rich poseurs will somehow form a government together, maintain that government, and keep the democratic and economic development going full-tilt.

Unsurprisingly, Malaysians show no sign of accepting this argument.

Anwar’s second great achievement is to convince the world at large — if not Malaysians yet — that his conviction for corruption (upheld on appeal), much-documented association with the Muslim Brotherhood, and apparent proclivity for finding himself denying wide-ranging sexual adventures, are not remotely reflective of the sort of head of government he would be, if he could convince his countrymen to elect a government composed of Islamic extremists, far-left socialists, and general malcontents. While the U.S. foreign policy establishment is finally coming to grips with Anwar’s real nature, his constant self-promotion and the general laziness of a large number of foreign reporters and foreign ministries have aided his disproportionately favorable image.

Both of these achievements will be for even less than the nothing they currently are if Anwar is unable to better, during the upcoming national elections, his just-shy-of-the-goal electoral result from the 2008, when the wind was at his back and the electorate was in a mood for national change. Three-and-change years later, Anwar is showing the stripes that led to his corruption conviction years ago, and reminding the world why Malaysians have not yet shown any inclination to hand the reins of power to a man who seems to spend a lot of time making amateur porn videos.

Anwar’s latest stumble — stumbles seem to come more rapidly for the man these days — lies in calling Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak a “pandi kutti,” a Tamil term for a piglet, to a group of Indian Malaysians. The Prime Minister was not, of course, present; Anwar’s stock in trade these days is to belittle his political opponents (and their wives) before adoring crowds, displaying the sort of raw political courage that has led to nearly a month of silence on the allegations that he was, according to long-time new media backer Raja Petra, possibly the man behind a series of preposterous allegations against the Prime Minister (detailed here). So, quite aside from the sheer heroism Anwar displayed and the statesmanlike pose he has adopted (calling one’s opponent an animal is no more acceptable in Malaysia than in any other civilized country), he elected to call a devout Muslim a pig.

Smart opposition leaders with the wind at their back take pointed jabs at their opponents. Elitists with coalitions doomed to failure by their very nature and no chance of success resort to name-calling. The difference is subtle in print, but obvious in practice: Suggesting that one’s opponent is asleep at the wheel, confused, incompetent, corrupt: These are all on the table. Name-calling is a way of indicating that one’s primary schooling was not an unrivaled success. Naturally, the Prime Minister is unfazed, but when his putative opponent has been reduced to calling him a poopy-head, it would seem reasonable to treat Anwar as a nuisance rather than a danger.

Anwar’s world is not only crumbling on the political front, where his coalition is starting to crumble and his own party shedding supporters, and his former attack-dog blogger has implicated him in a major controversy. He is dealing with yet another sodomy trial, one looking progressively worse for him over time. Indeed, “worse all the time” is an understatement, as authorities have positively identified Anwar’s DNA from the samples collected at the scene. No matter what we in the West think of making sodomy a crime, the man who would be prime minister should be the first to obey his nation’s laws, and the first to righteously demand exoneration if he was innocent, offering his own DNA to test against the sample, thundering for justice from the heavens.

Instead, Malaysians get more rallies about the prime minister’s wife.

An honest assessment of the opposition in Malaysia shows that they have no real chance in the upcoming elections, and that even if they somehow succeeded in getting past the post, they would neither make Anwar Ibrahim prime minister nor last as a governing coalition for very long. An honest assessment of Anwar’s life shows a man who has striven, sought, found, not yielded, and ultimately, will never win. His desperation is clearly overwhelming him.

Were he a man of even average moral decency, we should ache with his tragedy. It is a pity that at the last, amid a storm of name calling and gutter politics of his own making, he cannot even succeed in being of average moral decency.

Let us not allow this to happen again!

In the true spirit of our founding fathers this country must not be allowed to be ruled by chauvinist Chinese again!

It is kind of like an unwritten British constitution that here in Malaysia, lucky or unlucky, we have a written constitution, but unfortunately, that it is now opened for abuse, especially by the Chinese-based opposition party!.
From what I have gathered, it is a conventional wisdom in this country that the official religion is Islam since the majority of the population that are Malays who professed Islam as their religion.
In this country, if we did not have a unwritten constitution, still the Malay kings and sultans are a clear testimony that the land that was once called Federation of Malaya, or Persekutuan Tanah Melayu, is indeed ruled by Malay majority.
In England even though there is no written Constitution but the British Rule of Law dictates that the Prime Minister of that country cannot be a Negro, Chinese, Pakistani, or Indian originally from India! Or, by the same token the King cannot be a person of a Chinese, or Indian or Pakistani descent!
We can go on and on saying that it was not stipulated in our "written" constitution that the Prime Minister, his deputy or the King need not necessarily be of the Malay-Muslin descent, that Chinese or Indian or Sikh or anything other than a Malay-Muslim can also be holding that posts?
However, it has been clearly been stipulated that in this country the Malays were and are willing to share with the others, have to be be clearly a country to be governed by that unwritten laws and conventional wisdom that the official religion is Islam and the Prime Minister and his deputy are of the Malay-Muslim descent, and that the King and sultans cannot be a teochew, fuchow, malayali or tamil or dll, other than that what has already been widely agreed and accepted by clear a convention. Unless any one is ready for another racial riot! Read here!
Unless a certain group or groups are willing to destroy that very succinctly em-placed norms and convention and social mores of this country! Really, the bad news is, did it occur to everyone that Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim never really condemns the 9/11 attacks on New York about 10 years ago where about 3,000 people died? And yet he was proclaimed by neo-conservative stiff like Wolfowitz, Al Gore and Cohen as friend of the United States of America?

The good news for pro-life citizens of the world is that Osama Bin Laden, the chief architect of the 9/11, is now dead killed in Abbottabad, in Pakistan, by the US combined forces.

We do know now that Osama was THE main patron of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and a close friend of another prominent MB Egyptian Yusuf al Qaradawi. Qaradawi as we now know is also a close friend and associate of Brother Anwar!!! So Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim is saddened by Osama's death..read here on what he is really made out of!!
MB in Egypt is now referring and calling Osama a saint and it this is not a moderate group as they have claimed themselves to be...read here!

As said by Prime Minister Najib Razak that violence begets violence and that is why the leader of Al Qaeda is now dead.

He said while it took the US ten years to track and hunt down Osama, they did it because "when you use violence to kill civilians, the side that feels victimised will retaliate" no matter how long it will take.

It is as though Najib is saying that the same applies to those who spread lies and mayhem in this country will be dealt with accordingly, no matter how long it will take!

P/S. All these while NATO and the US forces have been fighting and occupying a wrong country to get rid of extremism and Osama. They should have invaded Pakistan instead of Afghanistan! I was in Afghanistan in the late sixties and I found the people of Afghanistan were peace loving and friendly, unlike the belligerent Pakistanis at that time!

Asean and local participants of MARBC..

It was a great and significant event last week when Malaysian bloggers, headed by Blog House (BHM) Malaysia, to successfully organised the first ever two-day 1st Malaysian-ASEAN Regional Bloggers Conference at Intercontinental Hotel, a former Nikko Hotel. (I love it when I can mentioned a hotel name in this write up, I remember as a journalist we were told not to mention hotel names and we always say a "leading hoooootel in Kuala Lupur" when we report events.

Blogging is so refreshing, now that our Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak promised to keep the government's word that it will not censor the Internet, even though some countries have called for such control.

The prime minister, and his wife, was accompanied by former prime minister Tun Mahathir and his wife. The speeches were great too.

My only question to the organiser, and to BHM advisor Datuk Rockybru is how come the Information Minister Rais Yatim was not there after all he is in charge of monitoring the blogosphere?

I was told that Prime Minister Najib asked him how come Rais was not there, and I was told that Rocky said he forgot?! Regardless Datuk Rocky it is your house you can invite or not invite anyone that you like or not like. Anyway with or without the Information Minister the event went very smoothly.

Anyway well done and I was told Najib was very happy with your event, and I have never seen Rosmah to be very happy throughout, with or without Rais!

PS. As for you Rosmah you must always be like that at every event that you and your husband will be attending form now on!! Cheers!

Murder, Mayhem, and the Muslim Brotherhood’s Man in Malaysia

There was much understandable indignation directed at the Malaysian politicians responsible for the trial of Anwar Ibrahim in 1998—most notably, of course, then-Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, who was Anwar’s mentor and the instigator of the trial that put Anwar behind bars when he began to challenge Mahathir’s leadership. It was a political exercise, and it was meant to get the up-and-coming Anwar out of the way—eliminate the coming dissent within the party structure.

But it also, as we have written here before, made Anwar a star—the hero in an exotic and anachronistic Malaysian drama. His supporters in the West took his side largely because of their sense of justice and his ability to play to their egos. And so, when Anwar was put on trial for the second time several years ago for sodomy, his supporters sprang to action once again. Paul Wolfowitz and Al Gore said he not only “has been charged under very dubious circumstances,” but also that “as a political leader, statesman and intellectual, Mr. Anwar possesses qualities that encourage hope for the future.”

Their sense of judicial fairness is important here,because new information has come to light in another trial—this one involving Anwar’s current political nemesis, Prime Minister Najib Razak. The difference this time around is that Anwar is the one who may have been manipulating evidence and fabricating his rival’s culpability. And this begs the question: Will Anwar’s champions speak as loudly for Najib as they did for Anwar?

The story goes back to October 2006, when a young Mongolian translator named Altantuya Shaariibuu was found murdered in the jungle outside Kuala Lumpur. Two policemen were convicted of her murder, and her one-time boyfriend was acquitted. But the boyfriend was an associate of Najib, a fact that spurred numerous rumors about Najib’s possible involvement. None of the rumors ever marshaled enough evidence to subpoena Najib to testify—though that didn’t stop some from trying.

One of the claims came from the editor of a popular Malaysian-interest blog called Malaysia Today. Earlier this week he made an interesting confession. Here is how the Malaysian news agency Bernama reported it:

Malaysia Today founder and editor, Raja Petra Kamaruddin, has revealed that his statutory declaration (SD) linking Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu was made based on information and demand by several individuals aimed at preventing Najib from becoming prime minister.

He said he had never accused the prime minister or his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor of being involved in the murder of the Mongolian woman and that he no longer believed the story of these individuals.

He added that these individuals were connected to several politicians including Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and that they had put pressure on him to do what he did to prevent Najib from taking over from Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who was relinquishing the post.

“I no longer accept the story. I think it’s quite impossible. It can’t be that the prime minister’s wife would want to go to such place; it’s a jungle. I’m imagining, climbing up the hill, going into the jungle at night, at 12 midnight, I think it’s quite impossible,” he said in an exclusive interview with TV3 Group Editor Datuk Ashraf Abdullah in Perth, Australia, recently.

So Anwar Ibrahim pressured a journalist into fabricating a statement that would implicate Anwar’s primary political opponent in a murder in the hopes of destroying his political career. I would be interested to know what Wolfowitz and Gore think about that development.

But there is another reason this is meaningful. It follows on what we reported in late March: Anwar is bleeding supporters, and it couldn’t come at a worse time for his party. Saturday marks the conclusion of the regional elections in Sarawak, Malaysia’s largest state and a stronghold of Najib’s ruling Barisan Nasional party. The results will be a major determinant in when the next national elections will be held. Since Najib will ultimately make that decision, expect Anwar’s opposition party to continue its slide.

What is ironic about this is that, as regular readers of NewsReal Blog are aware, Anwar has been working with the Muslim Brotherhood for decades, and the unrest in the Middle East has catapulted the Brotherhood to the center of the debate and, in Egypt, almost certainly to the governing class.

A rising tide generally lifts all vessels. The fact that the global Brotherhood’s tide is rising while Anwar is sinking like a stone means that, at least in Malaysia, things are moving in the right direction. Click to the original link from here!

Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan of PBS also told the people of Ba' klalan in Sarawak not to trust the leader of the opposition Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim, he said Anwar is not to be trusted as he is a pathological liar and will always be one. Read more here...

Meanwhile as far back as 1986 when Anwar was in power as an education minister with the BN government, he has decided the word Allah could not be use by in the Bahasa version bible "Al kitab" and today, as any convincing pathological would do, tries to be a hero in championing the use of the word Allah in the Bible just to get political support. When Anwar visits with PAS strongholds in peninsular Malaysia, he is clear to take credit for bringing the Islamic extremists into his coalition; when he visits the Chinese communities in Sarawak, he is not quite so clear that he supports a party that wants to make alcohol illegal, make the murder of a non-Muslim by a Muslim less of an offense than the murder of a Muslim by a non-Muslim, and, oh yes, supports turning Malaysia into an Islamic state.

The Chinese community here is one of, if not the greatest, driver of entrepreneurialism and private wealth creation, and private Catholic and Protestant Christian schools are a source of great pride. It is terribly unlikely that they would roar with approval if they knew that Anwar was helping advance the end of those things.

So Anwar plays a double game. Before Islamist constituencies on the peninsula, he is a man who supports the imposition of sh’ria. Before Chinese Christians and moderates in Sarawak, he is a man more sinned against than sinning, a man whose only crime is bringing together an opposition to face off against a governing coalition that is transforming Malaysia into a developed state.

The Sarawak state elections conclude on Saturday. It will be interesting to see if Anwar can keep the dirty side of his past out of the spotlight a little longer. Hey! Read more here!

Anwar Ibrahim is a man of many resources. He is also an excellent communicator.

He has spent years building an international network of friends and allies in Washington, London, Canberra and Hong Kong in political, media, and in think tank circles, and he behaves like a man who has a large team of international advisers working for him, whether he does or not.

Outside of Sarawak and outside of Malaysia, Anwar has a wonderful tool kit of messages and sound-bites that he deploys from time to time. He uses them where and when he needs them, and always with a single and overpowering opportunistic goal in mind: of trying to poison the reputation of his domestic rivals, and of trying to find a way to unseat the democratically elected Government of Malaysia and get the job of prime minister for himself, a job that he was once promised by his mentor, Tun Mahathir Mohamed, back in the 1990s (before Anwar made the mistake of trying to unseat Tun M and trying to launch a palace coup that ended up with him losing the battle). Tun Mahathir: Anwar Bin Ibrahim had sex with four prostitutes!

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad wrote in his autobiography that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arranged to have sex with four girls before he was sacked as deputy prime minister in 1998.

The former prime minister said he interviewed the girls who told him they were taken to have sex with his then deputy, who was later charged and jailed for sodomy and corruption.

Dr Mahathir wrote that they were persuaded to do so by an Indian man they knew as Nalla, likely to be Datuk K.S.

“He had taken each girl separately to a house in Kenny Hills. There they met a person they recognised as the deputy prime minister. They were asked to undress with the purpose of having sex,” he wrote in the book titled “A Doctor in the

Nallakarupan, then a close associate of Anwar who has since fallen out with the opposition leader.

“Two of them said they refused but the other two consented. They were willing to talk to the police and to me but were adamant that they should not appear in court to give evidence,” the former prime minister said.

Dr Mahathir said he then called Umno leaders including mentris besar and chief ministers to Sri Perdana to brief them about Anwar’s alleged affairs and showed them pictures of the witnesses.

“He declared that he had done nothing unusual and insisted that everyone, including all the supreme council members, had done such things,” Dr Mahathir wrote of Anwar’s defence before Umno’s top leadership. Read more here..

I also find it more tragic to see how these four desperate Melayus still being advised by this one very smug and arrogant Baie lawyer, who snigger every time a press conference is given out by members of the Malay opposition party condemning the ruling party.

This baie would love to see the Malays confused and scattered politically so that they,, the DAP/PAP, can take over!

For the record let me say it now or forever I shall hold my piece (not peace), that I loath this BABI not because he is a homo-heterosexual serial sex offender-type, that is his business, but because of what he really is! The biggest hypocrite this country has ever known!!

PETALING JAYA: DAP national chairman Karpal Singh has been reminded that he once defended the screening of a blue tape and even invited MPs to view it.

Kita central committee member Muhammad Firdaus Christopher challenged Karpal to stick by the stand he took 22 years ago when he said the Home Minister could allow the viewing of sex videos.

Muhammad Firdaus reminded the Bukit Gelugor MP that he had made the statement when exposing the video implicating former Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker D.P. Vijandran in 1989.

“Karpal had even called on Barisan Nasional and Opposition reps to watch the sex video together to ascertain if the actor in the video was indeed the then MIC secretary-general,” he said, quoting a New Straits Times report on Dec 18, 1989.

The paper also reported Karpal as saying there was a provision in the Film (Censorship) Act 1952 for the Home Minister to allow viewing of obscene material.

“Therefore, Karpal should not retract what he had said 22 years ago just to protect a certain Pakatan Rakyat leader implicated in the latest sex video scandal,'' Muhammad Firdaus said.

Karpal recently called for the arrest of the so-called Datuk T trio after the three men screened to a selected audience a recording that showed a foreign woman, believed to be a prostitute, with a man said to resemble Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The three businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuaib Lazim and former Malacca chief minister Tan Sri Rahim Tamby Chik surrendered the original footage to the police after Anwar lodged a police report to deny he was the man in the video.

Several politicians, including one-time ally Padang Serai MP N. Gobalakrishnan, have since taken Karpal and the DAP to task over their stand on the sex video scandal which the party had described as “gutter politics”.

Muhammad Firdaus said: “Karpal had exposed a sex video in the past.

“But now, he is asking the police to arrest the people who had also exposed a sex video although the group had claimed they were doing it in the interest of the nation.

“Such double standards and hypocrisy!''

It is a staple of American politics, when American politicians can be bothered to notice Malaysia, to sing the praises of Anwar Ibrahim, the more-or-less permanent opposition leader of that state. It is to the Obama Administration’s rare credit that it has started to distance itself from Anwar, recognizing that Malaysia’s government has made serious strides in the last several years, and that Ibrahim’s unsavory past and ties do not make him a good partner in the region.

The Administration is so very bad at so much foreign policy, that we should actually take the opportunity to praise them when they do something right.

Anwar faces a crisis of his own making, distracting from his latest, quixotic attempt to move from opposition leader into government. In what was initially portrayed as a replay of his famous turn-of-the-millennium sodomy trial, he once again faces a sex scandal and trial. This time, however, there is video. And more importantly, there is the matter of the dynasty he is trying to create.

Here in the U.S., we are well-used to the scene of the politician’s fall from grace via video and photograph, with infidelities real and imagined making their grainy way onto the evening news.

Sometimes the “evidence” is a set-up, and sometimes it is not. But the pattern is usually the same: First the politician and his wife go through a period of denial, then the politician’s wife goes on national TV and (as we saw with Eliot Spitzer, all too literally) stands by her man, defends him, and forgives him for his alleged sin.

This is even truer when the wife has political experience or political ambitions, as was the case with Hillary Clinton or (at first) Elizabeth Edwards, to cite two of our better-known, recent political sex scandals.

It was even true in the case of former Senator Larry Craig, whose wife defended him when he was arrested for allegedly trying to have gay sex in a public restroom at Minneapolis-St. Paul International.

Rewcastle Brown recently made the claim on her blog that only 3% of Sarawak’s rain forest remains. In no small part because Ms. Rewcastle Brown belongs to the clan of upper-class Brits who believe that one tree is worth hundreds of humans, this has distressed her to the point at which she is openly aiding the political opposition in Sarawak, who she for some reason imagines will stop the state’s drive from crushing poverty to gainful employment. CALLING THEIR BLUFF! Chief Minister will open Sarawak to independent inspection to disprove deforestation claims.

Clare Rewcastle Brown, who is now actively trying to interfere in Malaysian politics by siding with Anwar Ibrahim in attacking the leaders of Sarawak, can no longer fake her claims that logging has caused massive deforestation of Sarawak.

In an interview with the website www.sarawakreports.org, Chief Minister Taib has called her bluff, and invited "independent and international inspectors" to come and see for themselves that contrary to Brown's claims, supported by her brother in law Gordon Brown, former PM, that 90% of Sarawak will soon be gone.

The truth is that more than 70% is still virgin rain forest. Some unseen hands are definitely at work here in so far as misreporting on Sarawak and its economic development.
Failed former British prime minister, Gorgon Brown, once suggested more bio-fuel to be used in the world and urged countries like Malaysia to cut down more trees to plant oil palm, but as for Malaysia we know better than how much jungle or forest to be utilised for farming and plantation purposes.
It was mentioned that Britain hundred years ago was 100 per cent forested but now less than 10 per cent is forest. More than 60 per cent is agriculture land. But Sarawak wants to turn only 25 per cent of its vast forest into agriculture land and yet they blame us for destroying our forest.
Remarks by Gorgon Brown (who has never been to Malaysia let alone Sarawak) and his armchair environmentalist sister-in-law Clare Brown, were out of sync with the real picture, but then if you are being paid, like former US Ambassador to Malaysia John Malott is, to write and to smear us, eventually, as they say, truth will prevail! This one is about the Reports' insinuation that RPK is really hoping to get a position if Brother Anwar Bin Ibrahim (BABI) gets to power.

The article in the Sarawak Reports (with an s) is critical of how foreign journalist and activist like Clare Brown, the sister-in-law of the failed British prime minister Gordon Brown, who consciously left out the development aspect of Sarawak under Chief Minister Taib Mahmud rules.
